I've noticed that connecting the 0803 is quite a pain. It sort of falls short of the overall good opinion of the dash cam.

These are aspects I noticed about the support:

* it only allows for less than 90degrees of rotation which means the cable connections must be on the left side.

* it does not allow for left-right adjustments forcing a central location on the window as edges are curved.

* the gps module adds extra distance between dash cam and window making a positioning behind the rear-view mirror more difficult.

I was wondering where happy owners of the 0803 (or 0801) have positioned their dashcam. Maybe this can guide me for the positioning of my 0803.

thanks for your ideas.

Both are behind the mirror so I can't see them while driving :)

I agree, with the GPS mount fitted, On my Audi A3, the mini 0803 is just too big to fit behind the rear view mirror.
(at the cost of not being able to adjust the rear view mirror)

It was still to big to fit above the rear view mirror & the top of the roof. With the LCD visible..
(My old dash cam, which was the "smallest HD dashcam", the ancestor to mini 0801 fitted in this gap very nicely)

In the end I placed it off center, more towards the passenger side but very high on the windscreen, such that the mount touches the roof. Out of sight of the driver and not distracting enough for the passenger.

Only if the mini 0803 didnt freeze & made noises so often, it would be almost invisible..

Thanks for the photos Tobi@s !

I agree with ChiefWiggum, in my car the window is not so steep so that the dash cam does not really fit behind the rearview mirror. The current mount is tragic in that it just shuts off so many possibilities.

Currently I have the dash cam dangling (you read right) below the rearview mirror. But that can only be a short term solution.

I tried everywhere; sides (not good as the window is curved and the 0803 mount does not have a left-right mount adjustment), bottom/dashboard (not good as the mount will not pivot for a bottom mount), behind rear-view (the mound is too big - even without the thicker GPS), etc.

Sort of surprised by the mount and that this issue is not indicated in product rating.

Here is a picture of my Mini 0803 installed, maybe its an option for you @zzf ?
