@Karagandinez is quite right but the actual term Viofo uses is "optional" 'cause it costs money. :)

People use polarizers if they get significant reflections from their windscreens in their videos.
 
I think I didn't phrase my question well.:unsure:
The rectangular polarization filter housing
can be pushed on in two directions, i.e. rotated by 180 degrees. There is no signal on the filter from above. So does it matter which way you push it onto the lens?

There is no difference, but it is better with a large cutout up.
Heat and cold can cause the plastic to weaken and the filter glass has a chance to fall out.
