I have been pretty disappointed with the video quality of the 1S vs my original Mobius, at least with the default values. There seems to be a lot of noise, poor color saturation, even the smoothness of the video on playback seems much worse. I tried increasing the bit rate to max but apart from much larger file sizes it didn't really improve the quality. I ordered it from eletoponline365 so I know it is genuine.

My battery also runs down to zero from a full charge when it is powered off for about a week.

Is it possible I just have a lemon?

If it helps you, here are my M1S image quality settings:

I use MP4 and H264, and maximum bitrate.

I have a telephoto lens in my M1S so you may find different settings work for your lens. Here's a sample video frame in good lighting.

If you bought the camera recently, it is possible that it had been sitting on a shelf for a while so the battery performance may not be as good as it could be.

Thanks, this was helpful. I think changing the metering to center-weighed helped as did increasing the saturation. I still find the playback to be choppy vs the old camera videos so I am wondering if I need a faster SD card.

For the battery rundown issue, the seller sent me a new battery but it has the same problem, so there is something about the camera that drains it when it's not being used. He was willing to exchange the camera but I didn't want to take the chance of getting lost on its way back to China. I am considering getting another unless I can find an alternative camera that is as small and simple to operate.

I used my M1S with a capacitor instead of a battery and it would keep it's tiny charge for a week. Discharging a battery in that time doesn't seem normal.

Have you tried asking for help at the rcgroups forum?

Yes, I think it was Frank who suggested some testing, which I did, and basically determined it's faulty. If it's been unused for a while, like more than a week, I not only need to fully charge but also connect to the PC utility to resync the date/time. Otherwise it defaults back to a date in 2022.
