[Firmware v1.004]
I recently installed the dashdam but am still waiting for the delivery of the battery pack. So I have been keeping engine running to simulate parking mode and trying to set up a script to download the clips via home wifi.
I have setup a static ip for the dashcam on the home router e.g. http://192.168.123.456/
(Scenario 1)
(Scenario 2)
Maybe some with wifi packet capture setup can help to figure this out?
I recently installed the dashdam but am still waiting for the delivery of the battery pack. So I have been keeping engine running to simulate parking mode and trying to set up a script to download the clips via home wifi.
I have setup a static ip for the dashcam on the home router e.g. http://192.168.123.456/
(Scenario 1)
- Start the car at home; hence the dashcam starts with the home wifi in range
- I can see the dash cam is connected to the home LAN
- Able to access http://192.168.123.456/blackvue_vod.cgi as expected. Able to download from e.g. http://192.168.123.456/Record/20200913_144400_NF.mp4
- Using a port scanner, port 80 is open with http
(Scenario 2)
- Start the car away from home; hence the dashcam starts out of the range of home wifi
- Drive home
- Wait about 3 minutes; I receive the cloud notification of the dashcam disconnected and then notification of connected.
- I can see the dash cam is connected to the home LAN at http://192.168.123.456/
- So the dashcam does prioritise and switch to the wifi connection (cloud hotspot) if available
- Unable to access http://192.168.123.456/blackvue_vod.cgi
- Using a port scanner, no port is open
- I can access the dashcam via Blackvue Cloud on Android app or Windows viewer
- If I download clips via Windows viewer, I can see traffic going through http://192.168.123.456/
- Double checking LTE data usage, the download definitely didn't use the LTE data
Maybe some with wifi packet capture setup can help to figure this out?
