Is it possible to power the 0801 camera using only a USB cable?

I'm hoping to run a USB cable through the headliner, down the A pillar and into a cigarette lighter adapter that has 2 USB ports. I want to do it this way so I can charge my phone and have my camera going at the same time.

Is this possible or do I need to hardwire the camera into my fusebox?

The Mini 0801 requires input of 5V, (0.7 A - 1A). The car adapter that it comes with puts out 1A, although I also used my Verizon Wireless charger (which puts out 0.7A) and it worked just fine...Just remember that long cables (longer than 3 meters) will have slight voltage/amp drops....

Have you tried using a USB cable to power the device? I've done so with a DROK 12v to USB adapter that is very small but can supply 3A at 5V. It works, sometimes. I'm having problems with the mini 0801 thinking it's attaching to a computer and bouncing in and out of USB/Camera modes. It's not a consistent failure, sometimes the connection works fine. My suspicion is that the data lines are not terminated (in the DROK USB adapter) and is causing the 0801 to think its a data USB connection and not a power USB connection.
If someone has the specs on how to terminate the data lines properly for a power USB connection I'll try to make the modes to my USB cable (and send DROK a note to suggest they redesign thier USB power device to prevent others from encountering this problem).
