Hi all,

I have a Powercore 6200LFP-PLUS battery (https://www.power-core.co.uk/products/6200lfp-plus.html) and a Viofo A119 Mini 2 which I'm trying to relocate to a newer vehicle, namely a BMW 340d touring.

I have the option to use the fusebox located in the driver footwell, however, there is no place to conceal the battery pack because of it's size My only real option would be to install the battery in the rear of the vehicle, there is plenty of space available to hide it and also the extra benefit of being able to use an additional fusebox also located in the same area.
My problem seems to be that the cables I have, that can be run from the powerbank are too short. I also think I need to use the Viofo hardwire kit HK4, but this seems to present another problem in that the 'voltage selector box' is inline and protrudes somewhat, thus making routing of the ordinarily thin cable awkward... the box section can be hidden away in the vehicle trim like the rest of the cable can.

Any thoughts on how I can work around this problem?

TIA

I have a PowerCore 6200LFP in the boot of my car, the HK4 cable is extended and runs from the cam in the front along the windscreen to the left side and then along where the ceiling is held up by rubbers through to the C-pillar. Just before it goes down, the voltage regulator is accessible by lifting the rubber. And then down behind the interior panels to the boot, under the floor. My car is a MY2024 C-HR PHEV but I would assume the same route should be possible in your 340d touring. And if not in the rubber, maybe above the ceiling? Fixate the cable if needed, to avoid noise by moving parts.

I have the voltage regulator set to the lowest value, to use as much of the PowerCore 6200 's charge as possible. You set it once, only in case of issues that you may need to access it again.

Be aware of the (curtain) airbags when you route the cable. Make sure the airbags can expand without being hindered by the HK4 cable.
And when you extend the cable, best to solder the wires so the connection is solid and use tape or a shrink tube to isolate bare wire endings.

Okay, thanks for your reply. I'll take a look again in the morning, I think by taking another route the cable may work out long enough. Out of interest, where did you ground the 6200LFP? I'm thinking I should be able to use the 12v battery securing bolt, which, on my car is located under the boot floor.

Welcome to the forums, Cramsnik!

If you need to extend the 12v wires that run from your battery box to the HK4 regulator, there are plenty of 18 or 20ga 3-conductor wires that are wrapped in a common insulator sheath available on amazon. Just solder and insulate as indicated above and you should be in good shape. I wouldn’t worry at all about tucking the regulator box into to car’s trim. Once you set it, there is no need to fiddle with it again,

To be honest, I don't know as I did not install the set myself. 😛 If you can get to the 12V battery, that would be ideal as you have the most clean connection, i.e. least chance of interference.

Hi all, coming back to this topic again as it seems the Viofo hardwire kit has failed. I verified the dashcam works by removing from the car and trying a different power source. According to Amazon the hardwire kit is a frequently returned item (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/B09MRVP2PX) so this leads me to the question, is there a more reliable alternative. Typically its too late to return the hardwire kit, reviews on Amazon suggest contacting the Viofo isnt the best route as they appear reluctant to resolve any issues. I really dont have the time for this and the fact I'll now have to pull all the trim apart to reinstall is time consuming enough. So, any reliable alternatives I could use with the setup previously described.. ie with the PowerCore 6200 battery?

TIA
