I have an external battery source under the drivers seat that I will plug the Dashcam into. Does anyone know if there is a provision in the 139pro software under parking mode that will allow the Dashcam to record when motion is seen? I am concerned that the camera would be recording unnecessarily while powered on or until the external battery loses its power source….

The A139 Pro has three parking modes. Auto Event Detection, Time-Lapse and Low Bitrate. Auto Event Detection (AED) is a motion based buffered parking mode. The VIOFO implementation of AED parking mode causes the A139 Pro to consume a large amount of power with or without motion within the field of view. Any of the cameras can detect motion. When the A139 Pro detection motion, it will create a buffered video with 15 seconds before the motion event and 30 seconds after the motion event.

The parking mode with the lowest overall power consumption is Time-Lapse (tested at 10 fps). The downside of time-lapse is there is no audio recorded.
  • A139 Pro
    • AED Parking Mode Power Consumption
      • 3-channel: Front + Interior + Rear
        • 728 mA @ 12.6 Volts / 9.17 Watts
      • 2-channel: Front + Interior
        • 529 mA @ 12.6 Volts / 6.67 Watts
      • 2-channel: Front + Rear
        • 443 mA @ 12.6 Volts / 5.58 Watts
      • 1-channel: Front Only
        • 271 mA @ 12.6 Volts / 3.41 Watts
    • Time-Lapse (tested at 10 fps)
      • 3-channel: Front + Interior + Rear
        • 665 mA @ 12.6 Volts / 8.38 Watts
      • 2-channel: Front + Interior
        • 474 mA @ 12.6 Volts / 5.97 Watts
      • 2-channel: Front + Rear
        • 396 mA @ 12.6 Volts / 4.99 Watts
      • 1-channel: Front Only
        • 245 mA @ 12.6 Volts / 3.09 Watts
    • Low Bitrate
      • 3-channel: Front + Interior + Rear
        • 713 mA @ 12.6 Volts / 8.98 Watts
      • 2-channel: Front + Interior
        • 512 mA @ 12.6 Volts / 6.45 Watts
      • 2-channel: Front + Rear
        • 439 mA @ 12.6 Volts / 5.53 Watts
      • 1-channel: Front Only
        • 265 mA @ 12.6 Volts / 3.34 Watts

Auto Event Detection is supposed to do what you want; however, in my experience, the motion detection is really flaky / doesn’t function properly.

Regardless of what sensitivity setting I have parking mode motion set to, the dashcam basically records 24/7, even in my garage where there’s nothing happening

Thanks, This is very helpful....

Do you know if this has been reported to Viofo?
