Sorry to be such a newbie, but this dashcam world is kind of new to me. I'm gradually getting my 0801 set up. I took some video Sunday and played it back on my Windows player. On another thread, I was advised to use registrator viewer in order to see the gps data. I downloaded it, but after spending a good deal of time trying to figure it out...I'm baffled. Is there a manual somewhere? I've searched all the avenues I know. For some reason, I can't bring my videos into registrator viewer.

Bring them into the program or, view them from the file list?
File
Open
Then pick a file or folder of files.

If you are having problems viewing videos in the file list what worked for me at least was the driver cd that came with my GS8000 has a file called VistaCodecs_vXXX. I could not view files in Registrator Viewer at first. Just for the hell of it i installed this as i was running out of ideas and it made everything work.

You can find it here as posted in the GS8000 FAQ on the main site.
it is inside a folder inside that zip folder.

As "CheckYourLights' suggested.. yes you may need extra codecs but these are easily found online, but IME Win 7 plays the mini 0801 files fine, though I did have to install the codec set for playing back .mov files from my Mio 368 camera, which is strange as both use the same .mov files, but obviously the Mio 368 must be slightly different.

I suspect however.. what you are saying, is that Resgistrator is not loading any of your video files. Okay.. Firstly... no I've not managed to find a manual for Registrator, I don't think one is available.

If you put a copy of Registrator in the root (the uppermost folder or out in the open) of your microSD card and run it from there it will load in all clips it finds on the card... some people use it this way.

Registrator looks for video files, 'First..it searches the directory in which it's run..it's home directory if you like.. it then searches all the folders thats beneath that home directory/folder.

I tend to put my microSD card into a small MicroSD/USB adapter which plugs into my PC, I then copy the video folder across into a folder on my PC called 'Dashcam Video's' usually renaming it to todays date... In that same folder is a copy of Registrator.exe and I've simply created a shortcut to it on my desktop... dead simple. All I do after.. is copy all my video clips over to that folder and it finds them.

If you want to put Registrator elsewhere..ie..in a different folder on your PC away from your video files, and run it from there, then you need to right click the icon you use to run it, and click properties, and enter the path to where you have stored your video's into the 'Start in' box. then afterwards when you run it, Registrator will know it needs to start searching within the path you just specified.
Personally, I think it's just as easy to plonk it in the same folder where you store your video files and run it from there.

Note. You need version 5.3 or later for Registrator to work properly with the mini 0801 GPS files... earlier versions may not locate the GPS logs properly.

I forgot about this. I actually keep my Registrator in a separate folder with my other video editing programs and then have to go hunt down my Video file folder. I'm going to give it a try this way. Thanks for reminding me.

Thanks. I'll eventually get this thing figured out. Then it will be time to attack my ham radio HT.
