I recently got my GPS working after it being down for some time. This might help others with the same problem. I found the soldered connection for the ground for the GPS was broken (bad solder connection from the factory). I simply re-soldered the connection and got it working. In the attached picture the upper right connection was broken. It might be a good idea to re-solder all the six connections for the GPS connector.
