Saving settings

So i had an over the air firmware update yesterday, not had the camera very long. Am i correct in assuming that everytime there is an update you have to re-enter all of your settings?
Is there any work around for this i ssee an option to save settings, then what?

The settings will be reset with 2.1 firmware update.
