Hello.
I want to use a fuse tap that has a female cigarette socket on one end. I'm not looming to wore constant 12volt and don't require parking mode. But have some questions.

What fuse rating should I be using for the dash cam?

At 12v, one amp is equal to 12w. I’m guessing that most dashcams consume less than 12w, so a 1A fuse should do it. Start up power draw might be slightly higher than steady state current draw, so if a 1A fuse blows from time to time, try a 2A fuse.

Fuses come in two varieties: fast acting and time based. Start with a 1A time based fuse. It will last longer than a fast acting fuse.

Normally a 2A is best, 1A is a bit low for the more powerful dashcams, going above 2A increases the risk of the combined load of the camera and the original circuit causing an overload, although it doesn't actually affect the load, just prevents you from plugging too much in, and prevents fires in the case of a short circuit. The lower the fuse, the safer, as long as it is high enough.
