OK so while Sungmoon and his team are investigating GPS issues with the author of Registrator Viewer here's a temporary workaround.

Basically this is a MateGo branded piece of software which can handle the GPS format that the Panorama cameras also use, and as it uses the speed info directly from the file instead of trying to calculate it which RV sometimes has trouble with at the file split it smoothes things out and gets rid of the spikes.

To configure, it, just install (first launch took a good minute or so on Windows 10 but odds are it's related to my unified threat management appliance) and click the M logo at the top left of the window.

The third menu down is language and change that to English - from there it's easy sailing as you can then select KPH or MPH to suit and select Google Maps instead of Baidu Maps (unless you prefer Baidu).

Here's a screenshot - it's nowhere near as advanced as Registrator Viewer but it gets rid of the speed spikes until they fix issues in the firmware and Registrator Viewer.

not very often you can find something that actually does something better than Registrator Viewer, to be fair though it is missing a lot of features but a good option in the interim

Thanks Rev, this is certainly good enough as a backup programme, even though as Jokiin say's it lacks the "bells and whistles" of RV
