Can anyone give advice on what power circuit to tap from when hard wiring the BAB-95 (iVolt battery) to my car's fuse box? Only Thinkware's instructions contradict each other.

  • The manual states continuous/B+ cable should be connected to a circuit with less than 10A (page 8)
  • Yet Thinkware have supplied 20A fuses with the fuse taps
  • On their installation page, their install diagrams do not mention anything about fuse size, yet the video ON THE EXACT SAME PAGE, features the same diagram but includes an additional note that 20A or higher should be used
Screenshot from video:

As I believe (happy to be corrected) it is inadvisable to have a higher amp fuse on the additional circuit of the tap, and they provide 20 amp fuses with the kit, the advice to tap from a 15 amp circuit is incorrect?

The highest amp ACC fuse available in my car is 15 amp - I believe this will be okay for the accessory wire to tap from?

Many thanks

I think that is a mistake... Less than 10 amps should be at least 10 amps. The fast charge mode is 9 amps, and needs to be connected to a circuit that can provide that at a minimum plus whatever the existing usage of the circuit. The 20 amp fuse allows some leeway before blowing.

15 amp should be fine

Hello, we do apologize for the confusion. We will send feedback to our HQ team with regards of the revision as the manual might be outdated. Please find the attached file for the guide
