My Ford fusion has at least one built in forward facing and rear facing camera. The front is used for pre collision assist I think it emergency breaking. When it fails to capture a clear picture I get an alert on the dash that the safety system is reduced.
Has anyone here had success "hijacking"a video feed from your cars built in cameras and using it for dash cam?
Id like to avoid sticking physical objects on my windshield if I didn't have to have the visual clutter. Also the built in camera has a defroster element on the glass and the wipers are designed to keep it's glass clean so it seems like kind of a waste to not record that video. It would make a cool time lapse source for vacations. No reflections or vibrations I'm sure.
