I am new to this forum so don't kill me yet if I am posing in the wrong thread.

I am new to the dashcam world. I have been doing some research and it's very confusing. I Live in NYC and do drive in the city sometimes. Most of my drives are outside the city. Right now I have an Escort Maxcam 360C which is a combo radar and dashcam the dashcam part is not that great. I find that I would rather have a dashcam only on the smaller size that is great quality. Some of the features that I would like are cloud based storage and a very good parking mode.

Cloud based storage is really only Blackvue or possibly Garmin. If you don't need cloud based storage, consider Viofo A119 Mini 2 or Vantrue E1 for single channel dash cams; Viofo A229 Duo or Vantrue E2 for dual channel dash cams.

If I don't use cloud based storage, what do you recommend?

Welcome to the forum Fantom555.

The cloud stuff are just in a few brands ATM, and in their high end models, but this will change as more brands are going this way.
The cloud stuff, well i am not personally sold on it, but in all fairness i have not yet tried one of those systems, the main thing to remember is, it is just events that go to the cloud, you do not upload everything as that would eat up a lot of data and mean you have to be in good 4G range all the time.
A dashcam system can easy generate 1- 1.2 GB of data every 3 minutes it is operating, and its on all the time while you drive

As suggested the viofo mini 2 is a really good camera as far as i can tell, but it is just 1 channel and really i prefer to recommend Americans that risk encountering cars with just 1 plate in the rear to also have a rear camera in their car.
