Which G1x for best battery life?

I'm pretty much sold on the G1x but I'd like to buy the model that operates for the longest after the key is removed from the ignition - this to record any future conversations with police. Or... come to think of it, I could just hardwire it to be always on and manually turn it on and off. Any thoughts on this issue?

I'm inclined to bet the newer G1WH.

none are designed to run after key off, you need something hardwired to work correctly, if hardwired though don't use something with an internal battery
