what is the point ?

was this guy found guilty or whatever he she is ever held responsible ?

Even with video footage and concrete evidence the number of high profile not guilty verdicts, be it police brutality, dashcam or bloodied gloves.... etc for long list

The only way to secure a conviction seems to be frame some one that's not the brightest .. s.avery.

save your money ... or maybe that's why uptake has been slow !!!!

come to Europe ... everyone else is :D:D:D:D

I will reply only to the title question and not first post subject.

Why do USA folks spend money on dashcams ?

Many days ago few russian dashcams recorded very nice images with a big meteorite.
This was unbelievable because in all movies we watched, everything is happening in USA, like: aliens landing, apocalypse, big meteorites which can destroy the Earth, etc.
Now americans want to demonstrate with live footage captured by their dashcams that what we saw on cinema and TV is real.

enjoy,

Dealing with private insurance companies isn't necessarily the same as dealing with a court/police

Exactly. A friend just got hit while legally turning onto a road by someone illegally running through a red light. Police came and said there's no witnesses or video, so he can't write a ticket saying one driver was at fault. My friend now has to buy a new vehicle. A dashcam video would would likely have resulted in a ticket proving one driver was at fault, resulting in the insurance company paying for the new vehicle.

Also to fight scam. Sometime people drive ugly old car, gets in front of something that usually carries hefty insurance like a taxi or semi truck, then suddenly brake and get rear ended. If there's no cam and no witnesses, the driver of the ugly car could claim something like a dog or a 3 year old child ran in front and he had to stop. The other vehicle would be found at fault for "driving too close" and causing accident.

With the cam, it would show the car got in too close and then braked for no reason. Those scammer would get busted hard for trying to rip off insurance and making false statement.

Here's an example of USA camera busting scammer:
pedestrian fakes getting hit and injured plus fake witnesses. The cammer got off the hook because the video clearly showed the faker was intentionally walking toward the car then slammed on the car because the car fully stopped rather than hit the person.

That video makes me think the cammer was also in on it just for YouTube hits. It all seemed so set up and fake. His reaction seemed fake too.
