I need 25 dash cams for a film project and am looking for a script or firmware update to enable auto-exposure lock on the Yi 4k camera (specifically).

A friend in the industry said Yi might be working on an update to enable AEL (auto exposure lock).

This should be a very easy update, one that many other cinematographers would like to see as well.

I will continue buying GoPro cameras if Yi will not enable this feature.

It has been requested from Yi, not sure if they will provide it. You cant achieve it via the scripting as it is so far

Would love to see this.

From what I have seen Yi is very good, maybe the best, in terms of adding features in firmware.

Did they announce a time line or is it maybe already implemented?

They release a Beta firmware from June 5.

Modify default video quality to fine (default s-fine before)
Added high bit-rate for some resolution ,such as 4k to 100Mbps.

Noticed ,this firmware based on 1.5.8-beta, so including such additions:
1. color-correction
2. photo dng
3. ae lock
4. video bit-rate

This is much better already with the AE Lock compare to the stock firmware.

Good news, Yi have said they are implementing the fixed shutter speed on the existing YI4K in a firmware update, coupled with fixed ISO you should be able to lock down the exposure you want.

I'm looking to manually adjust the shutter speed on Yi 4k. I'm using neutral density filters and want to lock the shutter speed at 96/1000 for a more cinematic look. Any word on when they are releasing this feature or where it was announced?
