Hi,
I tried to find information about the new narrow FOV mode of the Yi 2. But I could not find any.
So I have three questions:
  • What is the zoom factor of the mid and narrow mode?
  • How is it done technically? Does it just take a smaller area of the sensor?
  • Does it reduce brightness of the captured image?
I consider buying a Yi 2 and tried really hard to find this information, but could not find it.

Thanks for any help!

I recently read through several reviews of the YI 2, and this is the best I found on that feature. Perhaps someone from the YI development team could clarify.

"FOV is an interesting option that allows you to reduce the wide angle from it's original 155°. Reducing the angle is achieved by using software to crop the image. Images in medium and narrow won't look as sharp. Medium and narrow view will reduce the fish-eye distortion caused by the wide angle lens." - PEVLY

Thanks @flat that helps a lot. I set the pictures together, which gives the following result:
Wide: 100% - 1:1 (4K)
Medium: 75% 1:1.33 (only HD source)
Narrow: 50% 1:2 (only HD)
