The Vantrue N5, also called the Nexus 5 is a Chinese built, 4-channel rideshare camera launched in July 2023. The N5 is a unique dash cam as the main unit has a forward facing cam and a cabin cam. In addition, there is a rearward facing cam and an a second cabin cam for the rear.
So essentially you have 2 cameras recording what is happening outside the vehicle and 2 cameras recording inside the vehicle. If you are a rideshare driver and want comprehensive recording inside your vehicle, no other dash cam offers this level of coverage.
The Vantrue N5 is based on the Novatek NT98529 processor. It uses a 5MP Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675 CMOS sensor for the front camera while the other 3 cameras record at 1080p and use the GalaxyCore GC2093 CMOS sensor.
Video Quality
The Vantrue N5 front camera records 1944p video at 30fps with an average bitrate of 14 Mbps. The front camera has good video quality during the day and good above average video at night. While not up to par with 4K STARVIS 2 dash cams like the Vantrue N4, the video quality is reasonable.
The rear camera records 1080p video at 30fps with an average bitrate of 10 Mbps. Compared to the front camera, the video quality is not as impressive. Would consider it good during the day and average at night. There is some graininess at night but the video is still quite usable.
The 2 cabin cameras, one built into the main dash cam unit and the other as a separate unit, come with 4 IR LED lights each to illuminate the cabin at night. These cameras also record 1080p at 30 fps with an average bitrate of 10 Mpbs. Both cabin cameras do a good job of recording details in the cabin, even with low lighting.
Features
The Vantrue N5 looks like a slightly larger version of the N4 Pro and is an attractive design. The N5 uses an adhesive mount with an electrostatic film. Note that some users have indicated the electrostatic film provided for mounting does not work well and the mount falls off. In this scenario, it is best just to apply the adhesive mount directly to the windshield.
The camera connects to the mount using a magnet which allows for easy removal. The N5 camera can swivel 360° to record interactions at your side windows (i.e. police traffic stop).
The Vantrue N5 has a 3.19″ screen, g-sensor, GPS and WiFi. Free apps for are available for Android and iOS.
One area which can be seen as a negative for the N5 is its size. The main dash cam unit is on the larger size at 124 x 69 x 50 mm. However this does include the front facing camera, cabin camera and a 3.19″ screen. Rear and interior cameras are smaller at 85 x 48 x 48mm.
The Vantrue N5 build quality is very good and the camera comes with screen error notifications. The dash cam also comes with voice control allowing for the following 13 voice commands:

Parking Mode
Vantrue has provided numerous parking mode options for the N5 with the purchase of an optional hardwiring kit. The parking mode options include:
- Buffered Motion Detection
- Collision Detection (not useful as recording starts 10+ seconds after impact)
- Low bitrate recording
- Low framerate recording
Support
Like other Vantrue products, build quality is good and reliability appears to be good as well. Vantrue has decent support and does provide firmware updates. The warranty can be extended from 12 months to 18 months when registering online which is a positive.

Should I Purchase
The Vantrue N5 is a unique dash cam with 2 interior cams, a front facing cam and a rear facing cam. This is one of the few 4-channel dash cams currently available The STARVIS 2 front camera provides decent video quality while the other 3 cameras provide reasonable footage.
The primary negatives are the large size and the greater than $300 price tag. Even though the price is a bit on the higher side, the dash cam does come with 4 cameras. Overall an good buy if you are looking for a 4-channel dash cam.
