Which vendors are selling DOD products?

I have noticed that it’s increasingly hard to find anyone selling DOD dash cams. I’ve had a LS360W, LS370W, LS470W+ (has focus issues) &
I have an RC400S that stays in the family ride. I’ve had a number of other dash cams and ultimately have a preference to the way DOD’s video looks especially with their nighttime performance. What I have also observed is the sweet spot seems to be a FOV of 140 degrees for accurately capturing license plates. Interestingly enough my very first DOD dash cam (LS360W) captured license plates the best hands down. I’m looking to upgrade the dashcam in my commuter. I prefer something that I can move around car to car. Aside from eBay I am not seeing much out there at all. Any ideas?

I think the brand died years ago.

Modern systems with starvis 2 sensors in them are way superior to anything DOD ever did, at best they might have used the old regular starvis sensors in their last systems.

That’s what I was afraid of. Their site does show a UR1 Ai dash cam from last year. All things are pointing to me that the company is no longer. I just hadn’t read anywhere that stated that. What other dash cams do you recommend? I was checking out the Yeecore H22 but I know nothing about the company. Thanks for the reply.

Most of their cameras are 1080 resolution, which is OK in Taiwan, where they come from, but doesn't make sense for the small plates of the USA. You want 4K but they only seem to use the IMX415 image sensor, which is very inferior to the IMX678 used by manufacturers like Viofo and Vantrue.

I just found some more newer models but they seem extremely expensive and unavailable through U.S. retailers. The UR1 is a 4K dash cam with the Starvis IMX678. I’m not looking to spend $582 converted from Taiwan currency on a dash cam. I just ordered a Yeecore D22 so I’ll see how that does. The night time video looks impressive. I do currently drive at night so good night time performance is definitely a plus.

Oh and thank you for the link. I will check it out. I’ve been using an older Vantrue N series. I’ve gotten spoiled having the ability to download clips to my phone. Not having this ability is a bummer.

wifi and so DL to the phone are pretty much default in this day and age.
And you get fast DL speeds, in the old days you had to wait 5-6 minutes to DL a video 3 minutes long, today,,,,, seconds

Having wifi for the phone is also very important in some USA states, for if you want to show the cops what happened before they write their report.

The link is slightly out of date now, but it does give a good explanation of what you might want from a modern dashcam, and who the main manufacturers are, it is worth watching if you are not up to date on technology.

The UR1 is a 4K dash cam with the Starvis IMX678.

That is the image sensor to have today, but making sure that the dashcam also has good working HDR for night use, which restricts the manufacturers to those that use Novatek processors, so Viofo, Vantrue, 70mai. Some others are converting to use the Novatek SoC chips now, so there are others that will get decent HDR in future, but currently the choice is limited, with Viofo leading.

While Taiwan is bigger than Denmark in population, it is not in area, so that is a rather small market if they don't sell internationally! I suspect they have been concentrating on selling to fleet or automakers, hence still using mainly 1080 resolution for reliability/durability?
