70mai continues on with its 2025 roster of releases with the highly anticipated follow-up to it's successful A810, called the T800 (A810 Plus is now available in China, but with Starvis 2 IMX662 for the rear). There will be two sets: the T800 Premium set and T800 HDR set.

This is a three-channel supercapacitor dashcam, the first for 70mai with an integrated cabin camera. 4K Starvis 2 IMX678 for the front with F1.7 aperture, 4K Starvis 2 for the rear as well, and 1080p cabin camera with four infrared lights (sensor unknown at this stage). Rounding out the main specs are WiFi 6, support for the 70mai 4G hardwire kit (UP04/UP05 depending on region), and 512GB microSD card support. Obviously, this means that Novatek NT98530 will be on board. Dimensions for the T800 are 63mm in height, 123mm in width and 46mm in depth.

HDR available on all channels, and 146 degrees field of view for front channel, 147 for cabin and 146 for the rear channel. Other interesting tidbits is that the rear camera is not RC14, but a new RC41 with 4K Starvis 2 IMX678. There will also be a RC24 rear camera unit available with the Starvis 2 IMX662 unit (1080p) and narrower field of view at 130 degrees.

Frame rates for the three units: 4K 30fps, 4K 30fps and 1080p 30fps, when the front unit is paired with the RC41 as the rear. 4K 60fps is available if the front camera is used in one-channel mode, or when paired with RC24. The interior camera frame rate drops from 30fps to 20fps, when the front camera is recording at 4K 60fps.

Also there may be a silver highlights option for the cameras in terms of colour schemes. ADAS features also make a return, namely lane departure warning, front vehicle collision warning and pedestrian and cyclist detection.

I would not use HDR on a interior camera if that omission could lift performance of other cameras.
Like the main lens been moved to middle of unit, but then interior camera is in the " usual " place throwing symmetry off, but of course that you can not put in the middle of the inside of the camera, but you could maybe have put it in a lower protrusion like the Blusekysea B2W cameras.

HDR as long as you can turn it on or off, I don't really mind. Like you say, the placement of the interior camera you're kinda stuck with unfortunately. The package is basically the x800 but three channel with interior and overall I'm happy with it.

I have no questions except what sensor is the interior camera. And maybe some nitpicking with how the rear is 1080p and not 2K but I'm liking what I see.

Yes it look fine, asymmetrical just sometimes throw off my OCD
I would assume the interior is the old IMX 307

My " new " digital scope i am a little down i got the cheap version with old starvis 4K sensor, but then i turn on the IR torch and everything at least as far as i have to shoot on the range is lit up like daytime and i am only limited by the zoom on top of the 50 mm lens on it, so shooting small stuff like i always do out of the question, but something larger like a cat would be no problem even 130 M away

Hoping dearly for a larger 70 or 100 mm lens, that + 4 X digital zoom on the 4K sensor would be good for me.

SRY starvis VS starvis 2 side tracked me, thinking starvis is just fine depending on what you do with it.

I actually think the placement is fine.
It can hide behind the rear view mirror while the interior can see around it.

Lol stay on topic haha

The imx307 is decent for an interior camera and is miles ahead of the GalaxyCore tripe some manufacturers like to put in. But getting old news now the imx307. I know it's only Starvis 1, but maybe the imx415 is cheap enough now to facilitate applications like that. But low light performance / IR are the big questions.

I see OmniVision is still throwing their hat in the ring as they've got new sensors that are being used for the rear in the new Wolfbox g900 TriPro. Would be interesting to see if they have some other sensors up their sleeve

There are a few interesting looking ( on specs ) OV sensors, i was reading up on those a while back in a fit of boredom.
They have made at least one wildly popular sensor, so they aught to be able to do that again.

Usually they make me fall asleep snoring but the OS04J10 on paper looks better than the IMX675. bigger pixel size too so it could shape up to be an interesting competitor....

Note: just saw it's 2.9um like the imx662, but has the increased 2.5K resolution...

Yes to some degree, i am thinking windscreen mounted mirrors that is close to the glass, my mirror is mounted off the roof, so it is like 20 - 25 cm back from the glass.
So the build in interior camera systems i either have to mount a lot offset to a side, or remove the morror as i use to do when trying those systems.
Here i am of course intending to capture the whole cabin and not just the driver, which would be easy to accommodate for.

It is not that mounting offset is a big problem, but i would prefer to be able to then adjust the lens or camera a little sideways to compensate.
But today many systems do not allow for sideways adjustment only up and down on the front camera.

I am very interested in this model of dash cam and don't know which one is better than the A229Pro

T800 only has IMX662 compared to the IMX675 with the A229 Pro. Still no details on the interior camera though between the two models.

One big advantage the 70mai has is cloud integration with the UP04/UP05 kits. If cloud is important to you, then the 70mai would be the way to go.

I like the form factor (like the VIOFO A139 Pro) where it is less obvious for thieves.

A139 like other wedge cameras i can install high on the dotted area so only the camera peek out below the dots, but the A139 is wider than regular systems and so have a larger visible footprint.
So the standard symmetrical wedge is still my favorite.

A 810 is like a mini A139 to me, so less of a size matter here but the asymmetrical placed lens and so mounting if lens is to be right smack in the middle of the windscreen.

ADAS functions are also very useful, such as collision reminder for the preceding vehicle, start reminder for the preceding vehicle, lane departure reminder, etc.

70mai has just added support for the T800 in the 70mai app (global version of the A810 Plus).

Looks like we won't have too long to wait until global release, a month or two perhaps 🙂
