S1 4K quick review

There is some truth to their post. But if they want to post that. They should back it up with the full facts.

I am prepared to go scorched Earth about my two dead Viofo A229 Pro, died from heat.

I have not had any corrupted files with the Vueroid.

On the other hand, I can't count the number of times I lost files on my A229 Pro due to heat, shutdowns, etc. Apparently, that super cap used in the A229 was useless.

I think there is no point. Different companies are doing different ways to bring their technology to market. Certain users may want a supercapacitor. Certain users may want a dash camera that works in high heat. So many variables, wants, and needs of a customer. Not 1 brand will please everyone.

I just want to share the technology.
There are other dashcams also don't use supercapacitor, this is a common solution for many years, it use .ts file format.

Very unprofessional.
I have found some manufacturers over the years just want to s..hit on other manufacturers. Others take a better more mature approach by acknowledging the strengths of other brands, while saying that they we should all be working together and celebrating each other achievements to further this field of technology.

Sure, brands are a business and need to make a profit at the end of the day, but there's easy ways to make their public relations tactful.

hmmmm....is VIOFO feeling threatened? It is rather rude, crude, and unprofessional to pop into another manufacturers thread and sling accustations.

(psssst.....I have not yet lost any video from that 'last file')
The reason we didn't use supercap is because supercap is vulnerable to heat, and if operated in a high-temperature environment for a long time, its performance deteriorates and it becomes a cause of failure. We experienced many problems using supercap for a long time (after 2-3 years). This is why we designed the TFF file system. If you use a cigar power, the last file is not completely closed, and if you remove the daschcam from the GPS mount without turning off the power switch the result is same but the file is not corrupted. It is configured to close the file normally at the next boot. If you connect the SD card to our PC viewer, even the incompletely closed file is recovered. And also if S1 operate with Hardwire cable, the file is always perfect.

It seems there is no supercapacitor and battery inside the S1, so maybe it is better for heat handling.
But you will find the last file is always corrupted.
Hi~
Although this isn’t a thread we created, it’s great to meet you here in a thread discussing VUEROID topic.
It’s true that the supercap helps finalize the last recording video completely, but there are ways to complete the last video even without a supercap~

I’ll also catch you over in the Viofo thread~~
Have a great day~

I like a little inter brand rivalry, it is good for innovation, but a good tone must of course be kept.
I will personally prefer to work with good colleagues, than having a extra good paycheck. Also why i have rarely been in the same job for too long, my life record is 5-6 years with my dream job in the 90ties, otherwise 2-3 years and it get about time i will want to try something new.

I always comment on other non-Viofo product posts.
Very unprofessional.
Why can't one manufacturer post in another manufacturer's threads? Is this prohibited by the forum rules?
Please explain if I'm misunderstanding something... 🤔
Viofo is always interested in other manufacturers' products and, if he has questions, he asks them and also comments on certain statements.
When jokiin, the maker of Street Guardian, was still alive, he could also often be seen posting in other manufacturers' threads.

Because a competitor made a statement that is not true. This was not a Mandarin-to-English issue, this was an outright attack. It is very plain to see. On top of that, he made the comment in a review thread. Had Viofo made the comment in a discussion type thread, then maybe another matter. Either way, the Viofo statement is not correct. When challenged, Viofo did not rethink what they had written. Viofo apparently feels threatened.

This is a review thead and I don't care to drag it off course anymore than what it has been. The OP has the right to request posts be deleted if he chooses to do so.

I can't speak for the S1-4K, as I'm just starting to learn and get to know this model.

In six years of using Viofo models, I haven't lost a single file due to a model failure.
Maybe I was just lucky.

It's hard for me to understand the behind-the-scenes games.

Thanks for the clarification.
And please forgive me for the off-topic.

Trying to get this back in topic, how long does the ecoflow river keep parking mode running? I have an ecoflow too and was wondering if it was a good alternative to hardwiring...

I see around a 5w draw on motion/impact parking mode and I see on the ecoflow around 35h of usage left.
Didn't try the extreme low power mode, but I'd imagine it would be a lot longer.

And also you can save the power if you set turn off interior camera during parking mode...

Just have the two channel, it goes back and forth between 4 and 5w so seems its around 4.5w or so. I don't leave my car for that long anywhere expect at my house, but then I have parking recording set to off at my place so all is good, that's a great feature 👍

My power consumption testing shows:
  • Impact & Motion" parking mode [while monitoring for triggering impact or motion event]
    • 2-channel: 5.11W
    • 3-channel [Interior Camera Enabled In Parking Mode]:
      • Day [IR LEDs Off]: 6.69W
      • Night [IR LEDs On]: 7.60W
  • Impact & Time-Lapse parking mode [while recording Time-Lapse video and monitoring for impact event]
    • 2-channel: 5.15W
    • 3-channel:
      • Day [IR LEDs Off]: 6.63W
      • Night [IR LEDs On]: 7.54W
