You are right about no built in gps however, external gps is an accessory. Good thing about having an external gps is that the camera will still be small, sleek and lightwieght.

I have you ever tried a das3000dby otosaver? It has an internal battery, thus you can use it as a regular camcorder and camera up to ten minutes it also has an internal battery shutoff that turns camera off when battery voltage is low. Sd card can be formatted by pressing a button.
