Looking for an inexpensive, reliable, suction cup, supercapacitor based cam available in UK

Thanks Nigel. I can't seem to find what you're talking about though. I know about those discs as an old sat nav I have came with one. I can't seem to find a suction cup with anything other than the usual ball end or a tripod mount, and they look pretty bulky.

Looking for an inexpensive, reliable, suction cup, supercapacitor based cam available in UK

Well, I haven't posted here in a long time... I've been tasked by a family member to find them a decent dashcam. As per the title, they require a suction cup mount (it will not be hardwired) and something fairly inexpensive. Of course it needs to be reliable and I'd rather they had a...

Replacement for Blacksys CF-100 in $100 price range

Hi That's not entirely true. If you are prepared to work your way through my guide, you can extract the raw GPS data from CF-100 videos and have it display on Google Maps. Or, use it for whatever other purpose you can dream up...

JooVuu X: 1080p/30 HDR and FOV

I've got a feeling that in 1080p mode the camera uses more of the (1440p) sensor and resizes the image down to 1080p if you use the widest FOV setting. If you select say 120 FOV, it may only use 1920x1080 pixels to record without any resizing. This would explain why when I use 2560x1080 @155...

JooVuu X: 1080p/30 HDR and FOV

Are you trying to change it in the app or via PC? I vaguely remember the app displaying a message telling you not to change FOV when using HDR mode. I don't know the reasoning behind it, however.

What is the best form factor for a rear camera on a hatchback?

Since I liked my solution so much and since nobody else has mentioned anything similar yet, may I suggest the bent money clip mount: https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/where-did-you-mount-the-camera-post-your-pictures.502/page-38#post-255752 It doesn't get that close to the glass but will...

Accepting responsibility for a crash... discuss!

I think if I were involved in a crash, I'd always just leave it up to the insurers to decide. Even if I thought it was obviously my fault at the scene, I'd still want to review my footage anyway just to double check everyone and everything going on. There's no use admitting liability on scene...

Dual Purpose Battery instead of SLI battery?

UPDATE: I decided not to go down this route in the end, as my OEM battery is 640CCA and the only dual purpose batteries available in my required size with similar CCA are AGM batteries. AGM is obviously better than wet cell (for CCA, number of cycles and possibly reserve capacity too) but also...

    Shadow GT550W replacement battery

Agreed, I made it difficult for myself by trying to solder wires from two batteries directly to the board. Not the brightest idea I've ever had...

    Shadow GT550W replacement battery

Mine currently has two batteries in parallel pulled from two non-working Syma S026G's: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005HN70GM/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1501927102&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=syma+s026g+battery&dpPl=1&dpID=41pzvBjDn0L&ref=plSrch Space is a little tight...

    JooVuu X two years later

IMHO, the included JooVuu X GPS power supply is junk. I'd like to swap it out but I also want the GPS. I'd have to hack it up to get the best of both worlds which I don't really want to do (and shouldn't have to). The radio interference is very real in my car.

    Disable G sensor on C-100?

No problem, I also tried contacting Blacksys once but never got a response either.

It certainly appears that way. Perhaps a firmware update could sort that out for us. Oh, wait...

    JooVuu X two years later

I have a well used PNY class 10 / U1 128GB card and a relatively new Toshiba U3 128GB card. My JooVuu X normally runs at 24mbps via my own modified firmware. The PNY card works up to 30mbps (maybe higher, not tested) but the Toshiba card will only work at 18mbps.

Should I report this to the police? [UK]

Some good discussion has come out of this at least. I don't think I'll bother this time. As said, the driver didn't look to be out of control, although, I would argue they were not in proper control of the car. Distracted? Hard to prove one way or another as there was no collision thankfully. I...

Should I report this to the police? [UK]

It is unfortunate that the footage doesn't show the device that well although it is slightly better in the original video as you can see a black rectangle. It was definitely a phone though, me and my wife saw that with our eyes clear as day. In the original video with audio, my wife actually...

Should I report this to the police? [UK]

Quite brazen, 6 points just doesn't deter some folks! Just for the record, I did not wave or flash this guy out, I was simply leaving the junction clear as required by the highway code. If I was in a position to decide whether or not to let someone out of a junction and I saw they were on the...

    Painted A-Pillars to reduce reflections

Good job, definite improvement in the video. I did the same sort of thing ages ago as I didn't like how my A-pillars were reflecting in the windscreen either, along with some nasty silver trim right in the middle of the dashboard. Would recommend it to anyone on here, nice easy job. I just...

What CAR are you putting those DASH CAMS in again?

Two pugs at our house, and I'm talking of the feline variety, not canine. ;) 2008 Peugeot 207SW 5 door estate in metallic blue, 99k miles, 1.6 manual diesel, Sport trim, also has a panoramic glass roof. Dashcam: JooVuu X 2007 Peugeot 207 3 door hatchback in metallic orange, 82k miles, same...

Help. Hardwire problem. Power to cam even when ignition off.

Not sure what @stevedrummrrboy ended up doing, maybe he'll show up here again, maybe not... With my 207SW I did find a solution eventually as I couldn't make heads or tails of what the ECU was doing with the fuses. I had a custom low voltage disconnect circuit made up and wired that to a fuse...
