i love this thread, each year i come back to see what the latest updates are about sd cards. i'm fairly sure whether the sd cards works, unstable or does not work at all is down to the firmware. I have only recently gone through the entire thinkware stack of cameras and from using them for...
£29.99!!!! who did you find selling it for that price, the cable alone is less than £10 to make yourself including an additional cigar lighter socket.
if you dont want to make it yourself you can use your hardwire kit with the cigar cable that came with it and punch it in at a cost of £2 for a...
i know the feeling, my thinkware dashcam is on its 4th 128gb sd card. If it wasnt using old firmware there is no way i could afford the thinkware branded ones. Why they stopped you using other sd cards in older firmware is beyond me.
cellink neo here and been using them for many years, they are really stable and not had one fail on me yet. The ones i have seen fail are normally due to very poor installs via hardware directly into fuse box.
The f800 and q800 are not picky with cards and seem to work with anything so well worth taking a firmware backup. The f770 as long as you are on a older firmware it works fine with other cards. ive got several f770 still working bought over the last few years and everyone of them fails to work...
The u1000 is hard to find a good mounting place on any new smart car that has electronics where the rear mirror is.
All other thinkware cameras are easy to place.no idea why they copied ankers dash cam design as it's terrible to place
Youre right, ok well physically they look the same, micro usb , same angle etc and i cannot imagine them being any different because its just wire and a connector. Maybe its length as the f770 cable is MASSIVE compared to the Q800/ u1000
i will be taking a pass on this, the reason i went thinkware was stabiltiy before form factor. If they would have engineered the camera like the blackvue with a more compact design which you could use in any country that would have been an A++. The U1000 however is a step in the wrong direction...
You cannot use Partition Type A on this card because it will hit the limit and stop. Try C then B. Another possible way is to fill the continuous recording folder with a dump file until it is 220GB for example which is less than the limit you are hitting at 240gb and see if it loops.
Does anyone have any download links for old thinkware firmware for f770 which is not the latest uk version? thinkware are doing the sd card blocking again
Oh so it's mainly cost based. I replace all SD cards every 3 years no matter how many writes have been peformed. Yes the thinkware cost more but over x years it works out next to nothing and peace of mind the cam is covered in the warranty period which third party are not.
I don't get it. So you spend a lot of money on a dash cam, put cheap microsd cards in that are not mls and then look for workarounds on getting it to work with third party brands after they redesigned the model to not take them.
In the event on an accident when you need the footage it might not...
