VIOFO A119S Modified Firmware MODs Archive

FWIW, you can't really trust that any screen has its polarizer oriented correctly. On my desk, I have two identical Dell monitors side-by-side. They're the same model, but one is hardware Rev A00, the other is Rev A01. If I wear my polarized sunglasses, one monitor is clear, and the other is...

Screen freeze issue on 2.4 firmware

The boot delay would be for vehicles that power up the 12V power socket, then shut the socket off while the engine cranks, then power it back up. Perhaps it causes problems for the camera, or causes the camera to power down, then power back up again?

After 4 yrs, wondering if dashcam has been worth the cost

Since the cam is probably over-writing the oldest files based on the date stamp, you might want to mark that SD card as suspect-- it's probably been overwriting the same one segment on the card over and over and over again ever since the cam reset itself. That happened to me once (the cam had a...

    occasional beep?

Last fall I would get an occasional beep. Same thing, no particular pattern to it. It started to get more frequent; I checked my video files, and sometimes when the beep had occurred, the cam started a new video file early, and there was ~8s of missing footage. Turns out I had two problems...

    A119S firmwares

Some vehicles cut off the power to the accessory circuits when they crank the engine-- this can result in the cam getting power for a moment when you key in, then when you go to start the engine the power cuts out, then a few seconds later power comes back once the engine's running. It's...

Screen freeze issue on 2.4 firmware

I feel the same way. From another thread, Viofo.pl now has FW2.6 available. I did a Google translate on the page, but unfortunately they don't have a changelogs on the Polish site. http://viofo.pl/oprogramowanie-do-kamer Since my cam on FW2.4 is currently working (but for how long????), I'll...

Screen freeze issue on 2.4 firmware

My last cam was an A118C. For that cam, I reused the power adapter and cable from my prior Seezeus cam, and it worked fine. I eventually replaced the A118C when it started having shutdown corruption issues. I replaced it with an A119S, and after a month or so, the cam would "beep" on rare...

Screen freeze issue on 2.4 firmware

I'll keep that in mind for the next time. Hopefully it won't happen anytime soon, but if it is that easy to get the camera functioning again, it might be a useful fix. Have you tried the "R" reset button? I haven't yet tried it-- but perhaps for this issue it would work?

Screen freeze issue on 2.4 firmware

I'm using a Sandisk high endurance 64GB. Sold & shipped by Amazon, bought it in ~Oct/Nov 2017. Worth noting: I made a change to the settings when I reset the cam on Saturday: I set it to 1080P30, rather than 1080P60. Before making this change, I re-set all settings to the defaults.

Screen freeze issue on 2.4 firmware

Just to note that this screen freeze (snow on left third of screen) happened to me twice in the last week. I upgraded to FW2.4 shortly after it was released, and it worked fine until now. Last week, FW2.4 got stuck on June 20: the last file on the cam showed me parking at work in the morning...

    disadvantage of strong wide angle

If there's one thing I've learned from posting dashcam videos on Youtube and showing them to family/friends, it's this: the viewer's perception is everything. If ever you have to show the video to somebody, wide-angle makes it "feel" like you were going too fast. The viewer's first impression...

    A119S firmwares

On Viofo's website, I see that they've updated the date for FW2.4... Previously 2.4 went online in January, but now their blog post for FW2.4 is April 23. The file in the Zip still seems to be 2018-01-15, but they also provide a bare BIN on the website. I've seen enough companies messing up...

    Firmware 119PRO

If this is the same issue that I've experienced on my A119S, where 2/3 of the screen goes white/snowy, to me it's a critical issue. When it happens, it means the camera has stopped recording, and won't record again until the firmware's been reinstalled. Perhaps it only happens to a small...

Minor Hit & Run - Recorded on 7 cameras

The lack of a front plate in some state has always baffled me.

Unable to play EVERY LAST file for A119S? Corruption?

Is this something that the cam manufacturer can mitigate by adding additional capacitors/power conditioning to the power being supplied?

Unable to play EVERY LAST file for A119S? Corruption?

I had this happen a couple of times before: -On original FW, with a marginal SD card, and marginal power supply. -On updated FW, it happened again. -Now I'm running FW2.4 since the day after its release, and so far no problems. I have a strong suspicion that the A119S is very susceptible to...

Autonomous Uber kill vehicle (Dash Cam)

You're probably right that it wasn't a Tesla. However, but I've worked in enough companies and gov't agencies to know that it's equally possible that nobody's reviewed it in the context of the previous week's incident because it's not their job. And for those who have connected the dots, they...

Autonomous Uber kill vehicle (Dash Cam)

I'm curious what kind of vehicle crashed into the barrier a week before the fatal Tesla collision... Could it have been another Tesla?

Autonomous Uber kill vehicle (Dash Cam)

We've had fully automated trains here since 1985! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SkyTrain_(Vancouver) Mind you, it's grade-separated through the entire route, so it never has to deal with any car crossing, and it's got a full control center monitoring the network. If an incident causes the...

Autonomous Uber kill vehicle (Dash Cam)

Absolutely agree, it's the pedestrian's fault for crossing the street without regard for traffic, and they paid the ultimate penalty. However, this collision could've been very substantially mitigated, and possibly (probably) entirely prevented, if only the car had been paying proper attention...
