4. Gyro must be enabled after video recording is starting. If camera is in video mode and in stand by, pressing on the Wi-Fi button camera will enter in Video menu. So is not possible to have Menu button functions with camera in stand by.

5. Maybe it is in that way just to look nice, aligned with other values.

Please, check over the VIVID COLOR
Maybe they will add another option with not so strong colors like is vivid now.

Vertical flip! (Well i think that won't be posible)
Maybe will be, in a future firmware.

enjoy,
Mtz

i think it's been said a few times (in the gigantic support thread, which i wouldn't expect anyone to read in its entirety now that it's grown so much!) that vertical flip isn't supported by the hardware in this camera. so you just have to remember to turn off the timestamp if you mount it upside down, so that when you flip it in software afterwards, you don't have an upside-down time stamp in the top left.

I do also want to request to allow us to exit the pop up(mass storage & pc webcam) when charger is connected without restarting

Novatek have updated the SDK, it now support image rotation, but we will not implement in V1.5, will be in future firmware.

Is there any timeframe for flip integration?

It will possibly save us cash for different mounts etc.

I believe the most important thing is image quality by now, things like less contrast, less saturation and more sharpness in the default settings are a priority for many people (including my self).

Less contrast and saturation?

No way, Git2 needs more contrast and more color saturation IMHO.

Compared to the SJCAM, the default Git2 image looks dull and lifeless, sunny days look like they are clouded over, whites look grey and foliage looks dead instead of green.
Check out the following comparison video, posted by someone else, and you will see what I mean:

Ignoring the Gopro and the other thing (whatever it is) for a moment, tell me which image looks more natural, the Git2 or the SJ5000?

Maybe the image sensor in the Git2 is just not up to par, or maybe it is a firmware issue. I'm hoping the latter, but suspect it may be a hardware issue.

If SJCAM fixes the audio and tweaks that stabilization a bit more in the next model, it will be a Gitcam killer, of that - I have no doubt.

Git needs to work on their image quality, otherwise they are going to loose a lot of sales in this price range.

Hardware is fine, firmware development is still ongoing, GitUp have more chance of delivering results than SJCAM do

I hope so, because this is a very competitive sector to be in. Lots of competition coming online from other Chinese manufacturers, which is driving prices
for everyone way down. The one thing that makes one product and company stand out from another, aside from the obvious image, sound and build quality, is the international product support that they offer.

I like the fact that a representative of Git is reading this and other forums, comments occasionally and seems to be taking constructive criticism on board 🙂

Hopefully, our user reports and suggestions make it into upcoming firmware/s and make a good product even better 🙂

There are people who want more contrast,
there are people who want less contrast,

etc. !

People have different display devices, different eyes and different preferences, there will always be disagreements.

I do see that if you have SJCAM video and try to turn the contrast down, the sky stays burned out and the dark areas are lacking in detail.

However if you have Gitup video and turn the contrast up, you still have all the detail you want as long as your display device can manage to display it. You can't recover an over exposed sky, but you can turn the contrast up on one that is a little under exposed and still have good image quality.

The same is true of the saturation and sharpness, it is a lot easier in the video editor to get what you want if you start off with Gitup video than with most other brands.

I normally watch my videos on the same display device that I use to watch TV, the Gitup video is a lot closer to the professional video that I see on TV than the SJCAM video is...

For some people high contrast, high sharpness, high saturation video looks impressive, but that is not the same as it being high quality. I've always been unimpressed by top end Canon DSLRs, their colours look dull to me, but they do record high quality photos with plenty of detail so that you can adjust the result to your preferences.

several suggestions from this forum have directly led to new features on the Git1 and Git2 cameras - adjustable volume level/sensitivity being my favorite. and @gitup has said they like the idea of "user profiles" where you can set a bunch of settings, and they're going to try to work it into a future firmware. ie: one for "dashcam mode", which auto-records on power, turns ON the g-sensor, turns on loop recording, and might have different white balance/iso/etc settings, and then another for "action cam mode" which does NOT auto-record, does NOT loop, and turns g-sensor OFF. and maybe a third for different photo settings or time lapse or whatever!

the ideal situation would be to have these as user adjustable menu options, you can never please everyone so better to give them the options and they can adjust as they please themselves

Image Flip is just a mounting related thing. I believe the most important thing is image quality by now, things like less contrast, less saturation and more sharpness in the default settings are a priority for many people (including my self).
GoPro have a flat profile, compared to the GoPro color profile, seems less saturation.
One of our engineer visited Novatek Taiwan this week, he have talked this with them directly, even I forwarded a GoPro sample to them.
But I am not sure if they will implement it or not.

I'm sorry, when i said less saturation i meant the VIVID profile (I always forget to clarify this). The saturation in the normal color profile is OK (with a little tendency to a more saturated green, though) But not a big deal. The contrastn is the big deal, theres is so much potential to recover detail.
Maybe you can check this V1.5 beta version first, there is a strong color option. Compared to the vivid, it have less saturation.

The vivid setting should have very strong colour, that is what the word "vivid" means, some people like to have excessive colour for some special occasions, it does not need to look real.

The strong setting should make a dull cloudy day look more like a sunny day, but it should still look real.

I would like to see two (I believe) simple things: 1080p @24fps and a built-in narrow, medium and wide angle modes for photo, in which narrow could have no fisheye distortion effect maybe.

Loving this cam and the support that comes with it!

Thank you very much

still asking the same as usual

24p for the high resolution mode (1080p and up)
sutter speed of 1/48 or 1/50 to match the 24p mode
A HISTOGRAM that we can see the shadow and highligth to held the setting of the ISO properly for video mode, and to set the ISO and shutter speed for pictures mode!!!

Is it possible to have the git2 give a special audio beep code and/or lcd warning msg when it's about to run out of battery? There are a few times I have it helmet mounted, and I run out of juice without knowing it.

Sent from my MI PAD

Yes, it would be nice if you could create custom profile for these things, like colors, saturation etc.

So then you could have a selection of different standard profiles, and the option to add say, 3-5 custom profiles ?

I think the gitup2 as is does have nice video. I do not like gopro, as they (for some reason) have to bright video
as standard compared to some other action cams.

Novatek maybe will implement the flat profile mode, less contrast and saturation, we are still working with them and providing some samples to them.
