3 Beeps

brand new out of the box memory cards are preformatted
Not mine, I'm afraid! After taking the card out of its wrapper, I loaded it into the camera and nothing happened: The camera won't accept it! I had to first format the card on my computer before re-loading it into the camera. And only then did it work!

cards are always preformatted and ready for use, you might want to run a test on that card, doesn't sound right

While it will be available from various English language websites, you never know what undesirable things might have been added, better to get the original from the original source, it has an English language option.
Since I don't speak German, which on-screen button [on the German-language site] do I click on to give me that English-language translation?

In case it is not clear, if you have loop recording set, most people use 3 or 5 minutes, the camera should record continuously with no beeping and loop around the card replacing the oldest video with new video.
I have mine set to 1 minute segments. Surely this [1 minute] setting in the camera's menu would also record events continuously and without any bleeping like the 3- and 5-minute options you mentioned?

If you have beeping due to memory issues then there is a card issue, either it is fake or it has got corrupted and needs formatting. Normally it should never get corrupted unless you remove it from the camera while it is being written to - turn the camera off before removing it.
The camera is always turned off when I'm removing or loading the card. And yes, the card has been formatted each time so that issue has been taken care of.

You can also get beeping from the LDWS warning which most people keep turned off.
But the bleeping always precedes my camera switching itself off! If the unit bleeps under normal operating conditions (and while the LDWS is turned off), there must be a bug in the software.

I'm only describing what I found. Saying that, re-formatting is no real hassle.

not doubting you at all, just saying it's unusual
No offense taken, I'm sure! πŸ™‚

I just need all the help I can get to get this camera up and running the way it supposed to; and all advice is gratefully accepted.

Considering this is my first-ever venture into dash cams, I'm all ears. πŸ˜€

it just raises suspicions when you get a new card that's not formatted, so many fakes around it's hard to know what's what anymore, if it were a larger than supported card and you had to use a 3rd party formatter to get it working that would be expected, unusual if it's a supported size though

I'm wondering about that myself!

I bought the 32 GB card from Harvey Norman's here in Perth, WA, from their hi-tech department. The card is a Class 10 and made by Verbatim. The other card I bought on-line doesn't appear to have a manufacturer's name; but it's a 128 GB Class 10 (so it says...!). I had to reformat both of these before the camera could accept them!

Nobody has ever asked that before, I think the big button on the right labelled "Download" gives the game away!

Try a direct link: https://download.heise.de/software/0498214f96811d5baa573c4d85953058/553de9f8/3582/h2testw_1.4.zip

It is worth using the test software, unless you test the card nobody is going to trust it...

Well, I ran a test with the "128 GB" card using "h2testw"; and sure enough, it was the card that was defective! So I'm going to stick with the 32 GB card! Hopefully now, the camera should be behaving itself as described. πŸ˜€
