412 Hardwiring problems

Complete noob. Reasonably compitent.

Bought my 412gw with nexbase hardwiring kit from Amazon a few days ago. Having watched many videos on youtube, decided to fit it myself.
Cam works perfectly using supplied cigarette lighter cable.
Cant get it to work at all using the hardwire kit.
1. Affixed camera to windscreen.
2. Routed cable to fuse box.
3. 2 amp fuse inline with red cable on fuse tap. Yellow 20 amp fuse from cigarette lighter in other slott.
4. Fuse tap earthed and connected to hardwire kit.

Nothing, not even a flicker. Tried many fuses. Even tried an unused slott in fusebox.
Waiting on delivery of multimeter to check cabling.

Points 1, 2 and 3 all good .

With point 4 - where have you attached the ground? It would need to be bare metal?

Does the hardwire kit power up the unit if connected directly to the battery?

Bare metal.. Yes
Not tried it on the battery, whats the best way to attempt that

I have just read that you have hidden all the wires; it would involve removing the cabling and connecting to the battery terminals and checking if it powers the unit up directly.

If not the hardwire kit is faulty.

Well a massive thank you to the guys at Nextbase in Caerphilly. Special shput out to the young man with the 1400 Yamaha. Sorted my earth issue in 2 mins. Works a treat now...
