650 Vs 550

for anyone that went from a 550 to a 650, is there a difference in video quality now it has a sony lens?

My understanding is that even the new BlackVue products have the same lack luster low bitrate problem. (you'll see a hint of square artifacts at times)
It's the main reason why we are hesitant to sell them.
Home Brew Hacked firmwares might be available but not sure on the newest.

Here are two screenshots of both dashcams, each mounted in the same location on the same type of vehicle, at about the same location on the road and at about the same time of day. I don't really see a difference myself.

Did they raise the bitrate to remove the compression artefacts?

Yes they raised bitrate for the front cam from 6Mbps to 8Mpbs and the rearcam from 2Mbps to 3Mbps
