70mai A800SE-4G Galaxy Sensor dual channel with 4G support
Acknowledgement to 70mai for sending over the A800SE-4G for testing.
Overview
This device is a refreshed design of the popular A800SE with the capability of using the UP04 SIM capable Hardwire kit.I think it is a capable entry-level 4K dual-recording dashcam.
4K dash cam that gains a significant real-world upgrade when paired with the UP04 4G hardwire kit.
It is worth considering, after you have read my review.
Is the older model A800se upgradable?
I was told by 70mai it has been updated specifically because the demand from customers who wanted LTE features integrated into this specific model. That lead me to asks the obvious question can the original A800SE be updated to the 4G version and the answer was NO.
I thought perhaps a firmware may be all that was needed but I guess not.
So it is a little confusing that they released a 4G capable model that doesn't help their previous customers.
TLDR:
In testing I found this to be solid 4K dash cam at a reasonable price point, with good daytime footage and a practical feature set.Night performance is adequate but not class-leading.
Where this setup genuinely earns its money is the UP04 4G kit.
Adding this adds real-time remote monitoring, parking alerts, and the handy ability to locate your car, Even in underground car parks with 4G coverage.
If you want a set-and-forget camera with some connected smarts, this combination makes sense. If night image quality is your priority, the pricier T800 with Sony STARVIS 2 will serve you better.
~$160 USD (advised but may change at release) A800SE (est. retail) ~$40–$50 UP04 Kit 4K / 30fps Front Camera RC22 Included In Set Version
The unit I was supplied also came with the UP04 4G hardwire kit. No cpl or memory.
Note the green light on the UP04 flashes and is telling us it is connected to the 4G network. I have more about how to set up the modem soon

I can also confirm that that Vodaphone and Optus also work with this modem.
The specifications
4K UHD (3840×2160) @ 30fps — native sensor, not upscaled - I did go to a lot of trouble to prove this. It's a 1/2.7" sensor, which is smaller than the Sony IMX678's 1/1.8" — that size difference is a key reason the night performance gap exists.
GalaxyCore 8MP " The a800se uses the GC8613 chipset. " Confirmed by 70mai contact. GC8613 is a BSI (Back-Side Illuminated)
F1.55
140° front
Hardware-level HDR
RC22 1080P (included in set version)

Supercapacitor (no conventional battery)
Wi-Fi 6 built-in; GPS + BDS + Galileo + GLONASS + QZSS
5-mode: lane departure, forward collision, pedestrian, cyclist, vehicle start

VIDEO QUALITY DAYTIME
In daylight the A800SE produces clean, detailed 4K footage.Licence plates at a reasonable distance are readable, road markings are clear, and the 140° field of view covers the road ahead without excessive distortion at the edges. For everyday dashcam use — capturing an incident, checking a number plate, having evidence for an insurance claim — it does the job well.
Daylight: The image is crisp and does exactly what you need for insurance and documentation purposes.
The A800se-4g is using the same size shell as the T800 and A810S
VIDEO QUALITY at NIGHT
Night time: While the 4K resolution holds up, the image quality is slightly lower than the IMX678. When viewing the entire image, it simply isn't as sharp or clear in low-light conditions as the Sony alternative. The F1.55 aperture is a genuine asset. A wider aperture lets in more light, which helps at night and in low-contrast conditions
I have found the night footage is usable and identifiable, rather than impressive.

UP04 4G kit
The UP04 is where this setup earns a lot of its practical value. On its own, the A800SE has no parking mode to speak of — without a hardwire kit powering it from the fuse box, it can't monitor your car while the engine is off.I found the UP04 changes that by providing constant power from your vehicle's electrical system, and adds a 4G cellular modem via a nano-SIM slot. Wire it in once, insert a data SIM, and the camera gains a set of connected features it simply doesn't have by default.
Remote live view
Instant alerts
Find my car
24Hour parking mode
Battery protection and monitoring
Remote settings alterations.
Remote trigger recordings.
The Find My Car feature is worth calling out specifically. It is using GPS coordinates over 4G, and because it relies on the cellular signal rather than requiring you to be in Wi-Fi range of the camera, it works in situations like multi-storey underground car parks where there's still mobile coverage.
That's a practical advantage over Wi-Fi-only dash cam locator features, which are useless once you're out of range.
My test site was a shopping complex with underground parking.
*The UP04 is the correct kit for Australia (Telstra 4G recommended) and Korea. US buyers need the UP05, which is paired with AT&T.
Installation involves connecting three wires to your vehicle's fuse box — ACC, VCC+, and GND — plus a Type-C cable to the camera.
You'll need a data-only SIM but it will still work but you won't get the remote features.
The camera doesn't stream continuously, only when triggered or when you actively open the app, so data usage is modest. I can't say exactly. I may look into it further.
PARKING MODE
Without a hardwire kit, the A800SE has no meaningful parking mode. The supercapacitor holds minimal charge and doesn't provide enough power for any extended monitoring once the car is off. This is simply a characteristic of the design — it's not a flaw, it's just how supercapacitor cameras work. The hardwire kit is the intended solution. With the UP04 fitted, the situation improves considerably with the push notification and remote viewing, you'll know about an incident rather than discovering a dent the following morning. You do need to set the G-sensor sensitivity to the level that best suits your situation.
