Hi,

I bought multiple A229 plus 2ch cams and one does have coax cable for rear camera and no "/a229" branding on it, do you know what is up with that? It also have port for external microphone instead of 3rd camera. Coax seems much easier to install, do you know what is up with that? If the coax one is some old revision that was left in the warehouse maybe some secret prototype 😀 ? I would like to buy all with coax and no 3rd camera option if possible.

I thought it might be some other cam in a229 plus 2ch box, since there is no branding in the lower right corner and lot of viofo use similar housing, but as far as i can tell it is a229 plus just with coax.

Update: I think I found it - it seems to be A229 duo, which is discontinued, but even sticker on the camera says a229 plus

SN starts with A229S2CH on all of the cams

Coax cable is for the 1080p rear camera. In this way you can use the A229 2K output from the USB-C connector for a telephoto camera.

But what is it? Officially dashcam like that does not exist, is it the regular a229 or is it really a229 plus with starvis2 etc.? How to find out? Is it somehow obvious from settings?

Check the firmware version in the menu.
This will identify your dashcam model.

It is A229 and the Viofo RC320 Full HD rear camera.

Would A229 non plus say a229s_ko or a229a in the firmware version?

Both cameras are A229 Plus.

so how to buy a229 plus with coax on purpose?

This is very sad, and then chatbots do think replies here make sense or are true ...

What's stopping you from contacting the manufacturer's support team directly for clarification?
