I am posting here because I could not found an official Viofo forum where I can report this problem.
I purchase a Viofo A229 Pro (2ch) and during my test I experience the following limitation: I am not able to connect to dashcam from browser, because my IP address is 192.168.0.xxx. Dashcam is connected to my WIFI over 5g.
How to repro the problem?
1. take a router and set IP to: 192.168.1.1 --> confirm that you can connect to the camera webpage (I was able to connect to webpage using direct IP connection from browser)
2. change router ip to 192.168.0.1 --> restart the Router and connect again with camera. Dashcam will connect to router, will receive an IP, but will not be accessible from webpage.
Let me know if you need more details to repro the problem.
Thank you.

Hello,
There are 3 different cameras in the A229 Series.
A229 Duo IMX335 (2022)
A229 Pro IMX678 (2023)
A229 Plus IMX675 (2023)
Each one is unique, and has it's own sub-forum.

@DashCamMan can you please move this post to the A229 Pro sub-forum.

OK, once you get your own thread started in the correct location you can tag Viofo, and Viofo-Support by putting the @ symbol in front of their user name.
You can also submit a ticket for support here;

You can try again refer to this blog first: https://www.viofo.com/blogs/viofo-c...39-dash-camera-to-wi-fi-station-mode-with-app
Your rounter will assign a IP address to the camera automatically after connecting the camera to your home wifi, also this IP address will be shown on the camera screen. You need to use this IP address to access files on the browser or access live view in the VLC player.

Thank you moderators for moving my post in the right thread.

I read and followed the instructions from https://www.viofo.com/blogs/viofo-c...39-dash-camera-to-wi-fi-station-mode-with-app
This is how was was able to make it work when I set the ip of the router to 192.168.1.1. The problem here is that when I set the ip of the router to 192.168.0.1 the webpage is no longer working.

Let me recap the setup and steps (with more details):
1. Setup: (all setup was performed on the table) Adapter 5V @ 2.4A connected to a USBA power meter (for my power evaluation).
Front dash cam is connected to Back dash cam with proper wires. When I plug the USB cable I see the power drawn of about 1A (more or less) and camera reporting that is recording two channels.
2. Test:
Connect camera and press Wireless 3s in order to allow connection from my phone. Setup the router settings for wifi (5g) using app.
Press Wireless 3 sec in order to turn off the wireless function.
Press Mic + Wireless 3 sec in order to enable the Wifi station mode. Wait until camera will report wifi connected.
Check on the router webpage the IP allocated by DHCP.
Open browser (firefox) and connect to that IP.
3. Results of the test:
a) when I set the router IP (I have a linksys with DD-WRT so I have to change also the DHCP range to the new IP range): 192.168.1.1 --> works are presented in link above
b) when I set the router IP to 192.168.0.1 --> doens't work, meaning I cannot connect to the wabpage using firefox. Also VLC is not able to connect to dash cam. It is worth meansioning that dash cam was connecting to the router and router allocated an IP (192.168.0.146).
Thank you.
Alin

..

Disconnect the back camera and make the camera a single channel device and try again.

For VLC on a PC, I think you will need rtsp://dashcam-ip-address.

Results are identical when I disconnect back dash cam (only that dash cam is reporting 'one channel recording').
I used rtsp for VLC (I was able to connect with 192.168.1.146; only when it gets from DHCP server the IP 192.168.0.146 ... is not working).

I have not put my A229 Pro on a router but, IP 192.168.0.146 can be an Admin login port for the router and the A229 may lack the ability to render the Admin login request data from that port.

I've got the same problem.
My home PCs are on 192.168.0.0/24, none of them can ping or browse to the dashcam.
I've tried with dashcams on differnet wifi networks in 192.168.0.0/24 and 192.168.4.0/24
I have other devices in 192.168.4.0 that can ping/http to the cam fine, but any client in 192.168.0.0 cannot get to the dashcams.
ie: if my laptop is on a wifi ssid on 192.168.0.0, then it can't talk to the viofo. If I move to my IoT wifi network, then it can talk to the viofo just fine.
It really feels like dashcam is blocking all incoming traffic on 192.168.0.0.
I've done packet captures from my router sending data to the dashcam and the packets head to it.. and it never replies.
The dashcam is not responding.

@viofo 5 months later ... any update?
Please Ping IP address (192.168.0.146) as below to test again:
1. Press the win+r buttons on the keyboard at the same time to open the run command.
2. Enter CMD to open the administrator prompt.
3. Enter ping 192.168.0.146
4. Press the Enter key and wait for the result of the ping command.

I'm not the original poster.. but my problem is identical..
The ping will fail if coming from a 192.168.0.0/24 host.
The ping will work from any other source IP Address.

An update here, after sending network diagrams and packet dumps etc.. I was able to convince Viofo that this problem was real, and they've now given me firmware that fixes the 192.168.0.0/24 problem.
