A229 Pro Overheating

Hey all, I’m in the market for a new dash cam. Is the consensus still that the A229 Pro doesn’t do well with heat? I was eyeing the 2ch A229 Pro, but now contemplating if I should settle for the A229 Plus for reliability. It doesn’t typically exceed 75F where I live, but I would like to use parking mode occasionally.

I see your point, @LateralNW . Yes what you describing is plausible.
6W-10W power consumption is possible to dissipate passively, but not in the form factor of A229 with non-existent ventilation.

Also, thanks to this forum, I concluded that HK6 is far superior to HK4 - larger load capability, better wires and that all translates into a bigger safety margin for power, and I would expect HK6 to run cooler at lower loads = more stable power. However, that wont help much if the local voltage regulator for microSD is overheating and start dancing with the output - but that theory is yet to be factually proven.

Eh... discovered that the memory card in the truck is SanDisk Max Endurance, which is listed by VIOFO as recommended card... so I was mistaken - was not Samsung

The plus is said to be more reliable. The A329 series is the newest in their line, with generally favorable reviews in all categories.

Report on the operation of the parking mode: "Recording with low bitrate" A229 Pro + RTC300
For anyone complaining about problems with the A229 Pro when recording while parked in hot weather, I recommend checking the user manual, page 33:
Note:
1. We recommend that you buy the VIOFO HK4 ACC hardwire
kit cable for parking mode recording.
2. If you park the car outside in hot summer, we
highly recommend time-lapse recording mode.
If the temperature inside the car rises above 60°C, we advise
turning off the dashcam to avoid recording errors or even irreversible damage.

Is there a similar note for the A329S?

Note:
1. We recommend that you buy VIOFO HK4 / HK6 ACC hardwire kit cable for parking mode recording.
2. Cut-off Voltage is only available with the VIOFO HK6 ACC hardwire kit.
3. In case you park the car outside in hot summer, we highly recommend time lapse recording mode.

I was wondering whether the limitation with the A229 was related to the Dashcam itself or the microSD card.
Since Time Laps, AED, and Low-Bitrate parking modes consume roughly the same amount of power, but Time Laps puts the least strain on the SD card, I suspected the limitation was related to the microSD card.

As for the A329S, I hoped that a remotely mounted SSD / microSD card would mitigate the high-temperature limitations.
However, this is not the case, thanks for the link.
