Dash Cam
None for the moment
Hello,

After spending quite enough time on the forums (I am astonished by the level of professionalism and dedication, you guys, show in reviewing cams - chapeau bas) this one and some other, after viewing tons of reviews, anyway, after doing my homework thoroughly, I came up with three, well two cams:
- vueroid S1 4K Infinite, but nowhere to be sold for Romania - seems we got fleas 🙂), so is off,
- 70 mai t800, a xiaomi that seems to deliver,
- and, the a329s (3ch, front, interior and rear). Or the cheaper a229 ultra
For the time being the prices for t800 (card included) and a329, card and remote are similar.
Considering that I am not so interested in a parking surveillance solution (yet), neither 4g and stuff, just wanting to have the most 360 degrees clear footage of driving, not vloging and stuff, just for safety reasons, I kindly ask you to give me a hint: a329s or t800? Which is more durable, has a better footage?
thank you

Well, seems more complicated since I found a229 ultra 3 ch at the same price as a329s... Life is cruel for the undecided... 😉)

A329S out of these 3 units.

Thank you for the advice, you helped me a lot (also with the reviews, which are very elaborate - you are doing a great job)!
I also thought so, since 4k is not of a real advantage due to the big EU plates. A329s seems more polished version in my opinion.
I' m on my way in launching the command (a viofo card and a remote also).

Haiou_f , thanks for making it mathematically clear. Seems that viofo bites 70mai and the rest, giving best for buck value. I wanted 329 because it' s a bit more heat resistant.
The saga continues because the company that sold the a329 was a scam - how could I ever believe that 300 euro can be real? Also, did I mention that a 256 sd was included? Yeap, I know Snowwhite is real and lives with Prince charming in the apartment next door... 🙂)
Luckily, I watched some videos around here, with unboxing - thank you guys for taking your time and making such detailed reviews - and the box was really, really tiny, something like two pack of cigarettes. Also, lucky that I used the "pay at delivery" option since it was not bought from an trusted seller.
Since now the 329 is quite out of my league, seems that a229 ultra or Terminator (the T800) are in the cards. But since I have a weakness for oddities, hmm, the X800 is also interesting. I strongly believe that the 130 from viofo was the best shape - the interior cam moving, wow, a great idea! Sorry they droped that design.
BUT
The 70 mai is the Xiaomi relative and, like the phone, they are good, better then other but they have a glitch, something that makes you regret buying. In my opinion (I do CAD and graphic design for a living) the fact that from contrast is so high is a no for me. When I process a picture the ones that blacker, they lack details and I just avoid them. Now, the off topic moment: it's like Canon vs Nikon, on the auto mode, one has more black then the other (the histogram is a Himalaya profile rather then "The Netherlands", case in which details are just lost, no matter the resolution.
Back on topic, seems that viofo is going full throttle in recommendations! Since, new kids on the block, I mean vueroid, told me to stay tuned "because in a future" they will launch a shop (really?!? just lift the ban for delivery from any amazon site in EU to any EU country and it's as simple as that, duh).
Thanks!

I think the only advantage for 70mai over VIOFO is the remote conectivity....
I really like the T800 but they need to improve a lot of things...

Agree, T800 has a lot of things to be improved.
As I see it for T800, the interior cam is not so useful. Let me explain myself: since it's better to mount the dashcam on the passenger side, most of the time under the rearview mirror, since the interior cam is off- centered, it records the passenger side and a bit from the driver side. And a lot of the lower rim of the rear view camera. So, it's a good camera for taxi but not for a regular guy to prove innocence in case of a wrongfully police ticket. Also, I can not adjust the Ev values for some foggy days - I am 100% sure that I will almost never do so, but, in my dreams, I am preparing the dash cam for the ride (yes, sure 🙂) )
For my pov, T800 does not suit my needs even I wanted to like it. But the more I think of it, the more is getting off my list.
The x800 seems to have a bit of motion blur due to the hinge and weight. So, considering the roads I am driving on, it's also going away (guess similar to the rear cam of vantrue, the one with the hinge).

You are right. I'm also considering the X800 but the rear camera is soooo bad. If the X800 were available with a 2k o 4k rear camera that would be my choice or even the new A810s (also a bad rear camera).
I'm still looking for the perfect dash cam, for me parking mode is a priority and the 70mai remote connectivity is a huge plus... so sad there is no option to change the rear camera on x800 or a810s.

The saga continues because the company that sold the a329 was a scam
Who scammed you in Romania?
If you are not interested for the SSD and LPID parking mode go for A229 Ultra 3CH for a better price.

It was a not the official dealer or retailer, it was mere a company not located in Romania; found about them from a guy from work that usually buy things from them. Sort of an Temu/Alibaba reseller, the "one hit wonder" sort of business, selling everything.
Guess that should teach me a lesson to be a little more careful and use only the official dealers or the e-commerce aggregators, amazon style.
You are right, not so interested about SSD (my neighbor got his car broke because he had a powerbank that some junkies thought it was a mobile phone). So yes, I am not interested in a parking solution, moreover, the perfect camera should be an easy removable one or a stealth one (not the silver/goldish accents that 70mai are using).
In this respect, how is viofo with the removable solution? is it reliable? I am aware that it's not a magnetic type but I guess that it's a better plastic.

The best thing about Viofo it is that it becomes almost invisible if you have black dotted area at the top of your windshield. Put the mount on that dots and will be visible only the lens part under it. There is no more invisible camera for this situation because it is exposing only the lens.

Dual cameras are not easy to be removed because of the rear connector. So better buy an almost invisible dashcam. The quick release system of Viofo is very good and easy to be remove, it is no difference between a magnetic mount and Viofo release system. If you will buy a camera with magnetic mount the problem with rear camera cable removal will remain.

Yes, an invisible seems the best thing since a magnetic mount might lead to vibrations due to the roads.
The viofo is quite invisible, they don't have elements so flashy as the others and it's shape looks like an appendix of the car, well, a device of the car. As long I get around the bush, seems that viofo is the best option for me even if it is at the limit of my budget.
I am sure that I will not have heat issue with a 229 ultra since I shall not use the parking mode.
Seems I'll be doing some shopping this weekend from a dashcam shop near the seaside 😉
