Hello everyone,
I recently bought an A329S as an upgrade to my trusty A119 Mini 2, which I will be passing on.
While I know the included 12V cigarette lighter charger with the blue USB-C port delivers a constant 5V/3A and acts as a "dumb" USB-C power source, it is just too bulky for my taste. Plus, I really do not need the extra orange fast-charging USB-C port.
Ideally I would prefer to keep using the A119 Mini 2's car charger or another capable discreet charger because it has a much lower profile and blends in seamlessly with my car's interior.
Another option would be to use my vehicle's USB-C ports, which are rated for up to 3A. However, I have not been able to get the A329S to power up from those ports using the supplied USB-C to USB-C cable.
I would also prefer to avoid using a USB-A to USB-C adapter with the original A329S power cable simply to keep the installation as clean and OEM-looking as possible.
My current A119 Mini 2 runs flawlessly on its original Viofo setup consisting of the included USB-A to USB-C power cable combined with the dual USB-A car charger, which is rated for 5V/3.1A. I also own another 12V car charger from a different reputable brand that can supply at least 5V/3A through its USB-A port.
After some quick testing, the A329S actually seems to also work fine with the A119 Mini 2 power cable and charger. This brings me to a few specific questions:
Has anyone successfully run the A329S with anything other than the hardwire kits or the stock 12V car charger and USB-C to USB-C cable?
Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

After some quick testing, the A329S actually seems to also work fine with the A119 Mini 2 power cable and charger. This brings me to a few specific questions:
1) Is the A119 Mini 2 charger/cable combination actually sufficient for the power hungry A329S 4K+2K dual-channel setup?
2) What about the D5000 power cable from the A229 Plus / A229 Pro? Is that cable capable enough for the A329S? The catch is that the D5000 12V car charger included with the A229 Pro is only rated for 5V/2.4A. This one: https://www.viofo.com/products/viof...19mini2-a229-plus-a229-pro-a139-a139-pro-t130
3) Is every Viofo power cable bundled with their newer cam generations (those with USB-C ports at the camera/GPS module since 2023) rated for at least 3A?
I am not interested in hardwiring the A329S, but I noticed the older HK4 hardwire kit, which only supplies 5V/2A, is being used with the A329S. However, I assume that leaves almost zero headroom power-wise, which makes me wonder how strict that 3A requirement actually is.Has anyone successfully run the A329S with anything other than the hardwire kits or the stock 12V car charger and USB-C to USB-C cable?
