In June I'm on a 3 week road trip from the UK driving over the most scenic Swiss Alp passes with a VIOFO A229 Pro and RWC200 rear camera plus 2 x VIOFO 512GB UHS-3 memory cards.

Non-driving scenes will be catered for by phone and handheld videocamera but I want to capture all the driving (front and rear) which will be limited to approx. 5 hours a day. The plan being to download the 5 hour's worth of video to a multi-TB HDD when I return to the hotel in the evening.

I'm estimating a maximum total of 120 hours of video at 30 FPS but I don't have the maths ability to work out how many TB's of storage space I'll need.

Could someone advise how I get to that answer please.

Referring to this 2023 post by @rcg530, the A229 Pro in 2-channel mode at max bitrate records at 59.8Mbps + 23.8Mbps = 83.6Mbps

Using the DCT Recording Time Calculator a 512GB card should be able to hold 13.9 hours of video at 83.6Mb/s. That's about 2.5 days per TB.

You will get longer recording time if you use a lower video bitrate. You may wish to experiment now with the bitrate to decide what setting you are happy with to record your trip.
