I've been working on my car DVR setup for the last couple days.

front cam: ReplayXD Prime X @ 1080p60
rear cam: DR170 Black Box @ 1080p30

Both cameras start recording when the power comes on, my car has powered usb ports which I'm using to power these cameras. Both cameras are set to loop with 5 minute clips.

What do you think?

I'm intrigued by your choice of cameras. Why did you buy them in preference to models by Panorama, Lukas, BlackVue, etc?

It's an Ambarella A7LA70 solution, just trying to work out the sensor - the firmware seems agnostic and contains support for multiple image sensors.

At a guess the Sony IMX206 which matches the 16Mpixel description :)

Do the prime x maintain 60 FPS when it get dark ?

I'd turn front camera down so that it shows less sky, maybe one part sky and two parts ground, now camera adjust overall brightness using only sky leaving ground a bit dark

not sure about that, has built in wifi
Good point mate - it sounds like some sort of A7xx75 solution in that case I'm guessing?

Is it LS for sports cams off the top of my head so maybe A7LS75? Not sure which other ones they have these days!

Alternatively to the Sony could maybe be the Panasonic MN34120PA sensor same as the SJ5000+ uses?

Lots of IDs in the firmware for this one:

There are lots of specific references to IMX206 though which makes me thing it could be that.

yeah would be the sport cam chipset, don't remember the exact model number, it's not something I've worked with, looks like it's doing a decent job, what it would be like for long run times though I'm not sure as that's not normally a consideration with sport cams

that's a really nice setup. and a lot of money as well.

I actually had the Prime X for awhile now so I figured I'd see how it works as a dashcam, so far its working good and it's small.

The rear facing camera I bought at a local 'Visions Electronics' store once I realized I wanted a rear facing camera as well.

I think it does

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, but then I might miss that meteor shot :)

Yeah, like I said I already owned the Prime X since last year sometime, the rear facing camera is a lot less expensive than the Prime X
