Choosing Codec

Like many of you I have choppy video. I see folks are choosing H.265 codec but I can't find that setting anywhere in the menus. I searched the VIOFO support site and the words CODEC and 265 aren't fount.

What am I missing? How do you change the recording mode to H.265?

can't recall which but I think you long press one of the buttons on the camera to change that

access the hidden H.265 HEVC codec you will have to:

1. Stop Recording by pressing the record button
2. Long press the MIC button for 4 seconds
3. When an SD card icon appears on the left side of the screen, H.265 is enabled

A big thanks. I did find that icon by playing around but never would have guessed it means 'H265' Amazing the words CODEC, H265, and H.265 are not on the VIOFO site.

to be honest I couldn't remember where it was posted so I just typed dashcamtalk H.265 into Google and it was on the first page
