connect to DR650s using wifi and still have 3g signal

can anyone advise how to set up the wifi on the DR650s 2 ch so that I still have a 3g signal, used to have a DR50GW which used to work ok when setting a static IP address on the unit, I have tried the same with the DR650S but am unable to connect to wifi.

latest iOS version you shouldn't need to set a static IP as it can connect to a WiFi device and still have 3G access, they may not have updated their app to take advantage of this yet though
 
I am running the Blackvue over the cloud app version 2.51 on iOS 10 but when the DR650 is connected over wifi I am still unable to connect to the internet
 
can you suggest a work around until Apple get around to updating the app?
