Connecting from Linux/Windows PC via vlc

I've seen a number of threads and the github stuff regarding the Action Cam, can the same method(s) be used to connect to the 4K version?

I want to output the video to vlc in real time (I've read the camera gets a bit toasty....but that's a cooling issue) to see if I can connect multiple cameras to a LAN and use them in conjunction with zoneminder a Linux based CCTV system.

Any ideas gratefully received.

This is quite easy for one camera, not sure how you would do it for multiple ones.
Select the camera to record in a loop (as the camera needs to be recording and you dont want to fill your SD card) and start it recording, make sure wifi is enabled.
From a PC with VLC connect you wifi connection on the PC to the Wifi of the camera.
When you are connected in VLC open up a rtsp stream from rtps://192.168.42.1/live
The video will transmit until you stop the camera recording.
