Shame to destroy an old classic, but it does show the new safety features are a huge advantage/improvement. Better fuel mileage too.
It seems unrealistic for the test institute to compare the dummy injury level without at least a 3 point belt in the old car, as many owners in US will update a classic that is frequently driven. Nearly all of the street rod owners I see at the car meets have added modern seat belts, disk brakes and tires.
I would love to see these two cars go down the dragstrip against each other. Both with their optional top engine. The dual quad 409 with positraction would probable finish while the Malibu was midway. Much rather drive the old stuff.
