Dashcam powering down

My dashcam is hardwired into a Kia Sorento

When I park it goes into parking mode.

I turn off the power and it simply says powering down. Which maybe is why I can't live view when the car is off.

Therefore I do not believe it is in parking mode at all.

Is this likely to be a problem with how it was installed, with the dashcam or something else.

I didn't get an additional battery pack.

Any thoughts?
 
hmm

well, i for one wont run a camera without a battery pack as they always kill your main battery
few years ago a ran a thinkware F770 hardwired without a battery pack, parking mode was getting shorter and shorter and shorter, bought a battery pack, no problem

replaced my main battery as a result as it was killing it

so id get one, worth the money
 
Sounds like it may be wired incorrectly. You'll want to doublecheck that the wire that goes to the battery still gets power while parked. It sounds like that's not the case.

If I went for the battery pack would the BlackVue B-124X Power Magic Ultra Battery be the correct unit?

If it is, is the battery pack just recharged as you drive?

that is the old version
i have a 130X, which is the one you want

as you drive the battery pack re-charges
when you switch engine off, the camera then uses that 130X ONLY so it wont discharge car battery, very useful :)
