Do Viofo have any future plans for 4G LTE connection/live view?

I don't understand why there is so much 'against' asking if a dashcam manufacturer is going to be adding/making LTE features in a dashcam in future.
I don't think many people are against it, other than @Panzer Platform !

Yes, it is a perfectly reasonable question, which it appears that the manufacturer does not want to answer at the moment, otherwise I think you would have already got an answer, so the answer is probably "maybe, it is under consideration."

It is also perfectly reasonable to discuss the advantages and disadvantages, why the manufacturer may want to add it and why they may not want to.

@mentadent wants notifications added, which seems a very reasonable request, even if LTE is not added, and while they are at it, they could remove the need for a VPN to be able to use the app remotely. You want GPS tracking. There don't seem to be many people wanting Cloud functions! These things do cost something, at least for the development, it is useful for the manufacturer to know what features people actually want, and discussing it here helps with that.

Why would a reasonable consumer buy a £400 WiFi router and add a VPN in addition to buying a dashcam in order to try and backdoor a feature that other manufacturers have been including in dashcam models for years.
1000% AGREED! I think that people get soo caught up with dealing with these brands intimately that they go against the popular demands just to stand out. I've read so many outrageous request on this forum from prominent members that makes me scratch my head. Then I look at the ages of some, the vehicles they drive , and other demographics and it explains why 4G lte, cloud, 360 viewing and parking mode is not on top of their list. Some people just have different cares of this world. Some would rather drive around w 4 free review cameras on they windshield. Me , I prefer one to do it all. IJS.

Are you going to stereotype by race next maybe?

Back on topic.....
(I never intended this to take a weird route that it has)

I hope Viofo join other manufacturers in providing an LTE option, or official remote WiFi connectivity (if using a separate WiFi hotspot in car that the dashcam can connect to) so that we can receive live notifications for impacts and live remote view

Personally, I am not against any new functions in new models. Let them even make coffee.
As long as all the new functions do not worsen the video quality.
The processor also needs resources to work with LTE.

I bought a cheap 4G hotspot around a year or so ago with a view to experimenting with my own setup much like the Blue Iris post.

However, I haven't yet had the time to mess around with it, plus there are some other factors which meant the idea got moved to the bottom of the todo list:

This is all for parking mode:
  • Even in high sensitivity for Impact detection, viofo dashcams do not register impacts very well at all, so having cloud/4G notifications would not help.
  • I currently park in an underground carpark for work, which blocks out all Wifi/4G/DAB signals.
  • I would need another data SIM, with the assocaited costs, in addition to my tracker and normal phone
  • Enabling wifi on the dashcam would use extra dashcam battery, and so would the hotspot.
  • Even if all the above worked well, as someone mentioned, would I even be able to get to the car quick enough?
So for me, it would be a bit too much expense and hassle,

Viofo's website for business users refer to Cloud services and remote viewing access for business users.

Does this mean it's in the pipeline?

"Fleet Management Solutions
Dashcams are pivotal in fleet management, offering live monitoring and cloud integration solutions. Through the application of Dash Cams, fleet managers can track vehicle routes in real-time, monitor driving behavior and vehicle status, as well as record road conditions and incidents. These devices capture high-definition videos and audio, serving as strong evidence to resolve disputes and clarify responsibilities.

Moreover, integrating dashcams with cloud-based systems allows secure data storage, analysis, and historical footage utilization. This cloud integration uploads collected data to cloud storage, enabling managers to access vehicle information and real-time monitoring remotely, which provides an indispensable tool for effective fleet management."

I would like to see VIOFO partner with an existing Fleet Management Service company that has a well established cloud and service, then offer a LTE / 5G solution, that has been vetted for the carriers in that country, in my case North America, that will work with that FMS. I pay the carrier, and I pay the FMS for cloud space and security.
