DR970X Plus 2CH - GPS issues

does it have to have the CM100GLTE to detect gps? I thought it was built in? I know my other car with thinkware, gps is an add-on.

No, the DR970X Plus and LTE model have internal GPS.
Only the box version doesn't. It uses an external GPS module but uses the same port as the CM100GLTE, so when the LTE module is used, the GPS is disconnected, so it uses the GPS in the LTE module instead.
