Hi everyone,

Has anyone (with a DR970X Plus Series 2) had the following issues

1) intermittent shut down ("Powering Down") followed by a restart within 10 sec

2) delayed restart after max. 10 min. while driving

it's approx 24~25 degree Celsius here in Australia, not directly under sunlight.

Diagnosing for patterns, if any. Seems like an overheating scenario, but too early to speculate.

Haven't had this issue with the DR970X Plus Series 1.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. HDR ON, Not Extreme Mode

Hi @DCS Australia,

I too am experiencing the exact issues you are facing since upgrading to the latest firmware (previous to v.2.005_2025.10.01). I never faced these issues before the recent updates.

The cam seems to run extremely hot at times and randomly shuts down, rendering my SanDisk High Endurance SD (512GB) toast. SD card not detectable when inserted into laptop card reader. Recovery software did surprisingly work initially and I managed to copy footage over. Now it seems like I need to reformat and try again. I feel it's destroyed the SD card, however I will need to verify in a few days.

I only have a DR970X Plus 2-channel, but I have not experienced that behavior with v2.005 installed. So, my experience is the same as the OP's with the older dash camera model and firmware.

I just updated that dash camera to v2.006 which was officially released on 01-Oct-2025. I just states "Minor bug fix" in it's change log.

When did you first start using the SanDisk HIGH Endurance micro-SD? It's not reliable and deteriorates quite fast especially with 4K operating with HDR at high temperatures.

I've got a replacement unit since and so far OK. However the HDR is a joke and nothing more than ISP with grainy footage. I will likely move over to the ELITE 8 in order to compare it to the A229 Plus. 🙂

Yes. I have series 1 and same thing since update in Australia

It's weird as series 1 now gets an HDR update when the core processor (Ambarella) couldn't technically support it at the first place.

HDR raises the operating temperature by a degree or two, which can result unexpected operating issues. Let's see!
