In the early days Nextbase had almost the total share of the UK market. The largest UK store only stocked NB and NB came out top in the magazine reviews.
I was sucked in.
I ran a 402 and 412 for a while and accepted these large ugly lumps hanging on a vibrating stalk. I also accepted that each time I brought the units indoors to offload the footage they had to be realigned.
Then NB brought out the 380. A wedge dashcam with supercaps which was far more discrete and crucially wasn't on a stalk so no vibration. But, it was only 1080p and had no CPL.
I accepted this for a while until I had a dangerous under-taker and couldn't read the numberplate of an overtaking car, approaching vehicles had no chance.
I realised there must be a better solution and found this site and found the Viofo A119 V2. What a massive improvement that was. 1440p, wedge, CPL, supercaps and enthusiasts here tweaking the firmware to get even better results.
I have asked UK magazines to include Viofo in their reviews but they have so far ignored me and continue to provide a NB v Garmin v names I've never heard of.
Reading these reviews and viewing sample shots I get the impression they test in the company carpark, not on the road, with no uneven road surfaces or filling cards to the max. Just using them as static cameras.
