Files not overlapping properly

Just to confirm that the problem has been sorted by setting the file segments to 10 minutes and turning Loop to on. Thanks for all the helpful comments 🙂

That sounds fine and dandy, but once you turn Loop on, then that means files can be overwritten when the SD card is full. That can be less than ideal, especially if the only thing I want is to have seamless no-frame-drops between files. So obviously there is a plausible workaround, but I still do not understand what the root cause for the missing frames is...

I still don't understand why there must be 1-3 seconds lost when the git2 finishes writing to a 4GB file and starts a new one. If the 4GB limit is the problem, then @gitup could just set the maximum file size to 3.90GB, right?

My gitup if reaches the 4GB and start the new files, I can't play those files. Neither on the camera because it sais error on a blue background, nor on the computer, because the softwares either freezes, or just not playing these files. Should I try to set the loop record on, because with the 3-5mins files there are no problem. How can I set the loop recording to 10minutes? It has 1.5 firmware on it.

Hi, Thanks, yesterday it didn't want to playback my pictures too, so I started to worry because I'll go on holiday in 2 weeks time, so first I set everything to default, with no success, and then I formatted the 64Gb card inside of the camrea, because I was testing it with a gopro dome in our bath, and after the formatting the pictures were fine to play back again. Maybe that was the problem when I did the firmware upgrade I left all the pics in the card, or I don't know because it didn't play back the long videos when it had the 1.3 firmware on it when I bought it. Anyway I set 10mins loop recording, so with 10 mins should be fine.

No success.it said error again for the 4gb file and then it said error everytimg.formatted the card again, set the loop to 10mins and with 10mins it work.so I leave it like that. Xcsource battery is also almost flat after 30mins recording...gitup battery was good for around an hour or a bit more.

As I said I set the loop recording to 10mins,I put it onto the table and left it there, and it did 10 files, but none of them can be played either in the camera or on the computer. I removed it has 64gb Samsung pro U1 memory card. I will try with my phone's memory card which is 32gb samsung card, maybe with that card will work for the longer files. If not I don't know what can be the problem. Hopefully it will work because I ordered it from bangood.com the eu warehouse, but I'll have to send it back to their chinese address if something would wrong with it. And I will go on holiday in 2 weeks time, so it won't arrive to China in 2 weeks, so I won't be able to receive a replacement one. But I noticed it doesn't play back the files, if I leave to record. If I stop the recording by myself it can play the videos. And yesterday I stopped the recording after when it started the second 10mins video around 1mins after it and it could play the 10mins first video and then the 1min second video. it just doesn't play when it makes lot of videos. But I'm afraidif I will snorkel, I forgot to stop recording, and I won't have any videos...🙁

format the card in camera

try a different card also
I formatted the 64gb samsung card several times in the camera, without any success, now I am testing it with a 32gb samsung card what I removed from my smartphone. It took 4pieces of 10minutes files and I stopped the recording, it played all, now I leave to record until the battery will be flat, because the most cases it said error when the camera finished the recording because the battery was flat. So I will see within around 50mins.

It worked with the 32gb card when the camera switched itself off because of the battery. But it has been set to 10 mins loop recording. Do you think I can try to record the 4gb files, just I don't want those error messages again. It works with this 32gb card in 10mins loop recording, and I mainly want to use it for snorkellling, so maybe the 10mins files would be good. 2weeks time I'll be on holiday, and I don't have other memory card to try if it doesn't want to work with the 32gb card if I switch off the loop recording.

Yes,the 64gb samsung card is fake samsung.I copied back the pictures what I've taken with my phone, and most of it the phone doesn't see...so I've ordered another samsung 64gb card from amazon.co.uk.hopefully they send me original.but interestingly the fake 64gb samsung card packaging looked original...

Amazon is half the price of a store, and if you buy one that's "fulfilled by Amazon" then it's rare to get a fake. But i always test new cards with h2testw as soon as I get them so I can return them if they're bad. Yes it's a little time consuming but I'd rather find a bad card when I'm at home than when I'm out trying to get a good recording!

Hi, thanks, yes, that was the reason why I ordered it from amazon, because it was cheaper and with free next day prime delivery. I think it is original card, I read some reviews how to compare the fake and the original, the original card has white side, the back of the packaging sais 10years warranty and made in Korea. Everything is like this on this Samsung card, so it should be original. I didn't test it with h2testw. What to see or look in the test?

Format the card in your pc, then run h2testw. It will write data to the entire card then try to read it back. If there are any errors it will tell you. The only "error"that's normal is that it will always tell you it will only test one kilo byte less than the total capacity... which is fine.

It is simplier...

The fake one is always too cheap to be true. 🙄

The fake one even passing the test, fails early. 😎

Hi, thanks, but the fake card was 9.99GBP in March, and I bought the genuine samsung for 12.99GBP now, so it wasn't as much cheaper...

Hi, I started it. My win7 laptop could format the card only to exfat or ntfs so I formatted to exfat. The test programme sais more than an hour to complete. It sais 15Mb/sec writing speed at the moment, which is the advertised write speed of this card. Hopefully will be fine.

So, coming back to the original issue, is this going to stay this way that you have a 3 second gap when running the camera in non-loop mode, or will this be fixed in a future firmware version.
Seems like a weird workaround to me. It should work out of the box, without the possibility of losing some of your video footage because the SD card has run full.

@gitup It's a bit off topic but, how hard would it be to implement ext4 without journaling for simplicity sake in git2 or on a future device? It can handle 16Tb files so file size wouldn't be anymore a problem.
I mean perhaps the ability fat32+ext4 without ext4 format if it's code heavy, it's just an idea!
