Posting here in the general section as, while I have the A229 Plus model, I know this affects other models as well

Over the last few weeks, since taking the V1.5 firmware update on my A229 Plus 2Ch, I have noticed the rear camera video files were slowly going out of sync with the front camera video files. That is, two companion recorded files (one ending with F and the other with R) would start out of sync when lined up together. This would gradually get worse the longer the camera has been recording, ending up with ~1 second drift over a 3 hour period.

I finally got around to testing this further this weekend (I couldn't roll back the firmware version as V1.3 is not readily available for download) but was able to perform some additional checks. It turns out that I left HDR enabled after taking the firmware update which correctly reduced my frame rate down to 30fps. This was the only difference I could find when analysing the video files from the previous firmware to the latest firmware. I haven't gone full dive into the files yet to make sure the contained streams are in fact what the metadata says in terms of frame rates and audio sample rates but suspect these will be correct given the continued drift as new files are created and not reset at the start of a new file.

I disabled HDR and changed the frame rate back to 60fps, setup the camera to record and so far there appears to be no sync drift between the front and rear camera over a test 90 minute recording. I need to check to see if the same is true for no HDR @ 30fps as well as my HDR was set to be timed and the recordings were being done outside of the set times.

The rear camera firmware was also updated to the latest available (V1.3), the SD card is a Viofo branded card and has been formatted from the camera. The problem only started after updating the firmware and the front camera changing to HDR @ 30fps

I have raised a Viofo support ticket on this with my findings so far in hope it will help them understand the problem. I am also hoping this post helps others who are experiencing this issue and like to have front and connected cameras in sync with each other, especially if using the captured footage to generate videos
